Just know what the frick you are doing and be confident when you lay out the plans. Any sign of weakness and you’ll be laughed at and walked all over. You are the boss and need to act like it, they are not your friends.

Pen, paper. Write out your weekly work plan for each crew. Create a pretask plan each morning that the foreman lead for each crew. Plan out tomorrow the day before and make sure you have your material and man power ready. Follow up with the work complete to track progress. Only talk to your foreman. If you dont have one, make one and tell them they are in charge.

Ask them what they can accomplish with their crews and hold them accountable. If they dont fulfill their job switch foreman.

Your arse is on the line. Start at 6 am and leave at 5pm. Dont bitch to your superiors. You are in charge now. Make it happen. Whatever you need schedule it. Deliveries, inspections.

Go out to the field and listen. Get to know everyone.

No one cares how much you know until the learn how much you care.

Simple easy way to start is to be there first and leave last.

Days that nobody wants to work like Good Friday and The day after Thanksgiving( or however the schedule goes), show up.

If you are a consistent presence it adds a lot psychologically.

First day, hand out individual bags of sterile urine. They'll follow you into hell.

That’s the approach. Looking for honest answers. Let’s face it. I’ve worked some turn a rounds in my youth. I know the gig but looking for advice. Baws on here...how do you want to be managed?
