I remember a new regional sales manager who had been with company only 2 weeks. At a national meeting with people and chair of the board he got sloppy drunk the first night at the Welcome reception. The next morning he was terminated. How foolish people can be

I went to a huge intern convention years ago when I interned. A dude got so fricked up he was asleep on a tube with a bottle of tequila in the lazy river at the hotel.

He was sent home the next morning, with a hell of a hangover I’m sure, and told not to come back

Where on earth do you work that you have to share a ROOM with someone!? I would rather die.

I would definitely quit my job before sharing a room with a coworker.

That's awful. You would think that would be a legal disaster eventually...

Thank goodness I have never been asked to do that. I don't even know how I'd respond, but I would probably look totally dumbfounded

I had a civil engineer tell me about "the good ole days".. This was mid 2000s I guess. He was a strange fella so I never forgot a bunch of stories he would tell. He said the first engineering firm he worked for, this was mid 80s he said.. He was like "they didn't care back then. We used to live it up on work trips". He said the company he worked for would have work trips to Las Vegas and would get suites for them. They would have an hour meeting in the suite and while in the meeting someone would pass around the cocaine..

I remember this conversation because he got really excited when he said cocaine and he said "back then there were not many women engineers so it was just the boys and we had a good time".

But as for as your post.. You worry about you.

All you have to do is request your own room for health or religious reasons or some shite.

Deloitte has a training center outside of Dallas. Especially the young people, they watch like fricking hawks. If you don’t badge into your room at night, or do it really late, the administrators will pull you out of the training the next day and ask you about it. Real big brother shite

Alcohol and acetaminophen don’t mix

I can’t imagine a toxicologist would recommend it

100%

I feel like sharing a hotel room is really.. intimate? Like this isn't two people in a house with each their own bedroom.

A hotel room is like.. sharing the same mirror to get ready. Taking a morning poop with someone 10ft away. Just no. Absolutely no.

Came here to downvote you but realized you were at 69 downvotes and because you're talking about getting blasted I figured that was a sign to leave it be.

Drinks go down easier on a work trip, not to mention most are paid for

I’ve done the excess drinking with colleagues before, not really my scene. I enjoy getting a good nights rest.

I’ll go out, but set a limit of 11pm to head back to the room. I do enjoy cocktails at a nice dinner and will seek out nice places to eat around hotel.

If alone I’ll head to the hotel bar and have a local drink. However, I enjoy getting up and having a solid breakfast for whatever convention. I’ll FaceTime my wife around 9-10pm and head off to bed.

I thought you owned the company?

I’d hate to catch you in yet another lie

Depends on the nature of the trip. I have retired now, but when I was working, I often traveled solo for a project site visit, etc. When doing so, I seldom drank anything. I often ate alone as well and would have a beer with dinner, at most. When eating alone, I often like to eat at the restaurant bar, so I’ll grab a beer or drink while I do so.

When I met in a group, we typically have a couple of drinks/beers after dinner at the hotel.

The young guys do seem to have a problem controlling themselves when the company is footing the bill. I even saw a few get themselves fired over it through my career.

Not sure about you, but my work conferences are generally held in Vegas, Chicago or Nola. They're basically begging you to party.
