At the bill and Hillary Clinton bar at the Little Rock Marriott, I saw two methed out tricks and their white trash pimp who wasn’t shy about flashing his pistol in the back of his pants

Probably would have done some decent business there had the conference I was attending not been all one companies annual meet up. Every knew each other and gossipy bunch of men

was a nice change of pace from people facetiming their kids then potrolling the bar for some strange

Had a blast at every training I went to.

Last one I went to in Dallas, my stranger roommate brought some chick (she was also attending the training) back to the room with me in it.

I remember a new regional sales manager who had been with company only 2 weeks. At a national meeting with people and chair of the board he got sloppy drunk the first night at the Welcome reception. The next morning he was terminated. How foolish people can be

Acting out, and getting blitzed around coworkers is a recipe for disaster. Nothing good is going to come of it.

I'm always very careful at these things. You can bet your arse it's a test just as much as anything else. I had a co worker that had to quit because he embarrassed himself so bad at a conference.

I'm sorry, what?

Where on earth do you work that you have to share a ROOM with someone!? I would rather die.

A lot of places do this for lower level staff in professional services firms. Not as bad anymore because a lot of them have dedicated training facilities now, but I had to do it to

It really depends on the purpose, but going a little hard in the paint is generally bad but not unreasonable if it’s mostly a wine and dine social purpose. Otherwise you need to be sharp and engaging and avoid going overboard.

Try working in Thailand resorts for 9 months. Needless to say, without kitchens, every night was spent out eating and drinking. Was amazing, but does wear on you.

My personal rule on trips with the boss and other colleagues:
When invited to drinks and dinner, join them. For every two drinks they order, nurse one. Under no circumstances get shite faced. Enough booze to laugh at their jokes, but not become one.

Public sector will force that. When I worked for the state and k12 I had to share rooms all the time.

earlier in my career, my boss and i would, but he's a second father to me. we really don't any more, but earlier when we were a small business we pinched pennies.

I’ve got some hilarious stories. Never happened to me, but some of my buddies ended up with some interesting roommates

I vaguely remember a guy at my old company getting so shitfaced on the plane ride to a conference that he missed the booth setup and welcome reception entirely. Couldn't believe they kept him employed.

Don't get me wrong. My company is definitely a drinking company. We went on a trip just a couple weeks ago (for leisure), and we drank the whole time. However, nobody that works for us has ever taken it too far that I'm aware of.

In fact, several coworkers have told me the next day when traveling, "Sorry I disappeared early last night - was starting to really feel the wine and didn't want to say anything dumb." Which is the smart move!
