Getting a ticket reduced to a non-moving violation?

How hard is this? Do you ask the judge or the prosecutor? Do this before the plea?
Ticket is a careless driving violation.

Prosecutor. Meet them in the office pre-trial. They do it all the time. Easy-peasy unless you act like a jerk.

The last speeding ticket I got, the sheriff was nice enough to put it in the system as a non-moving violation.

You’re saying I should send my wife? That is a good tactic.

The DA… go talk to them before begins

Wonder if we can call before the court date (Friday).

You can request to talk to the da to get it reduced or even dropped. Or plead article 894. The last time I used it, I had to pay court cost, and if you have no more moving violations in a certain amount of time usually six months it will be stricken from your record.

Ill use the Shawshank, do you trust your wife?
If so I dont see why you cant get the ticket reduced to a seat belt violation or even a warning with proper handling.

Down here you can’t… don’t know about where you at… you could go to the clerk if courts most time to get it handled though… court costs will still apply

Rather not have to check my son out of school.

Every time I get a ticket, I get it reduced to a non-moving violation or just thrown out.
(IF there was an accident involving the citation, you're fricked and need to hire an attorney). Otherwise, do the following:
1. show up on the court date
2. sign in when you get there
3. they will call people in the court room prior to judge getting there
4. city prosecutor will call your name
5. privately let them know you have a perfect driving record & cant have this on your record.
6. ask if you can get an extension to take a defensive driving class
7. let prosecutor know you will return on the next court date assigned with a copy of your defensive driving certificate and will pay court cost.
eta: make sure you are at the courthouse and the 1st person in line before they unlock the doors. Time allotment to do all of this should be 2-3 hrs.
(I've been back to work by 10am and also as late as noon).
Critical to be early and try to be the 1st person in line!
