Just got my quote for a new Generac. I was thinking maybe 12k, but it's over 14k. House is 3600sf and needs 24kw in power. Includes new breaker panel and a transfer box. Is this legit? Worth getting another estimate?

And why a 20 week lead time for install? Is this normal in the industry or something? Are there no generators available?

TIA.

Put my deposit down 2-3 weeks ago. They told me to expect a September install.

It's always worth getting another estimate.

Im surprised they said 20, I think its more like 24 now.

Covid has everything messed up. I dont know hwy, but people are buying generators like crazy. Just check Generac's stock price.

Just because you live on a golf course and had a tree almost fall on your house, it doesn't mean you need to start getting nervous. It's still the west bank.

Do it yourself.

1. Buy the generator with ATS.
2. Pour the slab yourself.
3. Hire a plumber to connect the gas.
4. Hire an electrician to install the ATS to the main line.

Price out a Cummins, buddy just had one installed and it was $15,000 all in. Much better machine and much better after the sale service.

Everyone is trying to buy a generator after the hurricanes and ice storm.

Congratulations on buying the worst most unreliable cheap Chines jumk generator on the market. If you have to pay a lot and wait a lot you might as well buy something that will actually work when you need it.

Kohler or Cummings (Onan) both have long histories of being counted on by commercial fishing vessels.

I ordered a 24KW a month ago and was told to expect install in July. They had already ordered some 24s though. Seems like your timeline is reasonable.

$5500+ tax for the generator and ATS

It depends on how far it’s located from the gas line and electrical service for the plumber and electrician costs.

I strongly suggest you consider other brands. The Generacs are generating (pun intended) lots of complaints. Try Kohler.

This

GenPro is equally as good or better and can be had at a lower cost. I’m sure there are plenty of other companies that provide the same service and are more cost effective for the consumer.

Check AP Electric online. Pretty good pricing but there is a wait.

Literally the only thing on that list that isn't about paying someone else to do something is pouring the slab.

Or is that the joke?

Dude can probably run his entire trailer by shuffling his feet across his carpet.
