Living in a place like Boulder, CO, I find it’s more common than not for people on a night out to be sober. Some call us the “conscious capital” of the US, but I find it’s a trend that’s actually catching on for millennials worldwide.

Sober dance parties like DayBreaker are becoming the new rage, inviting guests to “DOSE” on all-natural chemicals like Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, and Endorphins before heading out for a work day.

For millennials today, it’s become somewhat of a faux pas to drink. While our parents’ generation considered booze cool, we think it the opposite. Instead, connection, authenticity, and mindfulness are what’s catching on, and as a result, producing many benefits.

If you haven’t yet caught onto this generational shift, here are ten reasons why you might want to consider it.

The list:
quote:

1. You can experience more connection.

2. You can live in alignment with your values.

3. You can confront conflict sustainably.

4. You can get more in touch with your body.

5. You can experience more productivity. According to the HBR, millennials are “workaholics” who work harder and longer than preceding generations. Regular alcohol use can sabotage productivity.

6. You can access deeper presence.

7. You can step into a healthier lifestyle.

8. You can experience an elevated mood state.

9. You can become more socially adept.

10. You can get 'high' naturally.

This is false. I just gambled on FIU and Rice this weekend. I'm an alcoholic degenerative gambler.

It's like they had 3-4 real reasons, then added

1. You can experience more connection.

quote:

2. You can live in alignment with your values.

quote:

3. You can confront conflict sustainably.

quote:

4. You can get more in touch with your body.

This sounds like a list a really stupid person who writes a company newsletter and works in HR would come up with

I keep hearing millennials don't work and live off of their parents money. The ones I know don't. They work, drink, and partake in recreational pharmaceuticals.

I would guess that those that don't drink can't afford it.

I also wonder how many of their girlfriends get banged by other guys that are drinkers who will buy them drinks.

Most of this is word salad. #5 makes sense if you're someone who drinks too much or at the wrong time. #2 if your religion frowns on alcohol.

Otherwise it's a bunch of jibba-jabba.

well, that settles it.

in school, all of my friends and myself drank regularly, some drank a lot. but if you go to lsu and look at any given class, dorm hall, etc., most of those kids don't drink.
