Tornadoes are the scariest to me.
I agree, Gris Gris. Damn things can just drop out of the sky with little or no warning. Terrifying.

I have never been in one but I have been in a lot of earthquakes.....and they SUCK!
That's something I've never experienced but always thought of them as horrifying.
My family in northern Arkansas have been through a very small one, and my brother said he was scared shitless. Talk about zero warning at all. He said he had no idea what was happening until a picture fell off the wall & stuff fell off of the book shelves. He claims that cured any desire he ever had to live in Cali.

The no warning events are truly mortifying. I'd need psychiatric care after a tornado anything like these. I've had a few near me, but I wasn't home and once I was asleep. I think it was more of a twister if there's a difference. I woke up when a tree fell and clipped my roof off my bedroom. Scared the hell out of me. A few doors down, a tree went into a bedroom. No one hurt though.

Yep, the no warning & quickness of their destruction is truly terrifying. It's hard to believe an entire town can be wiped away in a matter of a few minutes.
I'm extremely scared of night tornadoes. Not being able to see them, but hearing their roar is unbelievably scary. I can't count the times I've stayed in the safe room or slept in the bath tub most of the night. Growing up, we averaged about two per year, some not touching down, but even just passing over is a horrible sound & feeling. And seeing one drop from a cloud shelf right in front of you while driving is mortifying.
The last pretty big one in my home town years ago was pretty bad & made national news. It destroyed the vo-tech college and many homes just north of the city limits. It honestly looked like a bomb went off. It happened early in the morning & people were sucked out of their beds onto the highway, I remember driving through the area with my mother who was an insurance agent at the time, and seeing people's belongings hanging from mangled trees, pine needles stuck into trunks of trees, and dead horses & cattle everywhere. There were many injuries, but miraculously, no fatalities.
Since then, the path of tornadoes in Arkansas seems to have moved north, basically to where the ones yesterday hit. Unfortunately, my family relocated right in the middle of that path about a decade ago. The tornadoes from yesterday hit just south of them. Very scary.

Horrid. Just evil and horrid. I can't imagine seeing that first hand. Had one go up the street next to mine a little over a year ago. Trees in houses etc... Just that was scary as hell and the damage was minimal comparatively speaking.

Well, I think I'm gonna try to sleep a bit tonight. I've been watching tornadoes & checking on friends & family for the past 36 hours & I'm sick of fricking tornadoes for a while.
Night, all. Everyone stay safe.

That guy is a dumbass. He damaged his car and risked his life when he could have stayed a half mile back and filmed from a better perspective.

Can someone explain to me how MS and AL are in the main area again todaY? the front is already passed... usually these storms are at the leading edge of a frontal boundary so I dont really get it. Just gulf moisture coming up and hitting dry air?
