Looking at the data, the sales figures do show an increase lately in the US full size suv market. However, even with this increase, the numbers are a fraction of the sales in the early and mid 2000s. We're a long way away from what it was before the 2008 financial crisis.

The suburban is performing well, but the sequoia, yukon xl and land cruiser are the 3 lowest selling full size suvs in America.

That's for your standard makes. Obviously 100k+ luxury suvs sell in much smaller numbers.

Truck sales are declining bigly.

The demand for SUVs is actually demand for crossovers.

Big gas guzzling suburbans, expeditions and land cruisers are not in demand.

The exact opposite of what this guy said is reality.

Truck sales are in fact increasing, not declining, and sure as hell not declining bigly.

Also, only someone who knows nothing about the auto industry thinks it's got anything to do with unions. It's simply what the market is telling them as far as what's selling and what the trends are.

They're having problems moving the Accord, and the Camry's sales are flat.

Looking at this logo...

Since when did we start allowing children to work in factories again?

Are child labor laws enforced anymore?

The frick ever...

A. Land Cruisier is the gas guzzler in that list 13/18 is terrible.. on vacation this summer my Suburban was getting nearly 24mpg.. Not too shabby for a 7000lb vehicle, far superior to the LC

B. Tahoe, Suburban are still in demand.. hell new Tahoe sales are up 20% this year.

While i agree that the inflated SUV sales are due to crossovers Large SUV's are hurting at all.

The reason why we're seeing a decline in sedan sales is b/c of the crossovers, b/c the get comparable mpg and can haul more ..

They are both having trouble moving at the volume they posted just a few years ago.

Crossovers are in now.

Demand for personal vehicles in America is way down.

Actually, it is not. See chart in link below. After 2008, a lot of people held off purchasing vehicles until the economy improved. There was a steady surge in purchases over the next 8 years and we are now seeing a leveling off.

2017 still had the second highest sales number since 1977. It was back in 2000 that has higher sales and just by a hair.

CAR sales are way down but not vehicle sales. Below is a link to the top selling CAR sales. Honda, Nissan and Toyotas are crushing Ford and Chevy...

I agree. Overpriced and overrated. Not exactly a promising combo.

I never understood why every car has the same interior...at least hide it a little better that you're ripping consumers off.

The dealer model of the car business is so outdated and inefficient.

If you can pick out a car in the internet and negotiate a price why do you have to go through a dealer to do it?

But their corporate tax rates were nearly cut in half so affording the more expensive steel and aluminum shouldn't be an issue.

Good frick the unions

Well the new "NAFTA" has union (and gay) friendly wording in it, so dont get to excited.

Unions are probably ok, and signed off on it, with whatever it is they get in the new deal.

We literally built and bought our last car over the internet...brand new, shipped from the factory to a local dealer where we completed the paperwork. Worst part of the whole thing, dealing with the financial guy at the dealership. I had the loan done before I built it online, we could have just had it delivered to our house...or to the bank who did the loan.

What was he doing to make it a hassle? Trying to sell you all the "extras"? Last car I got I would ask for a list of all the "extras," and it was liking pulling teeth. Like "dont know what you are talking about. We dont do that" kind of thing. Crazy.

Some basic market advise:

Stop designing and building generic pieces of shite and try something original. American car makers (trucks not included) are pushing what is essentially McDonalds on wheels to the public. Sure, there is a certain market that will eat it ... but try appealing to segments with a little taste. Quit with the retro, out of ideas movement and just DESIGN something new and attractive. And fire that Chevy commercial guy!
