Sorry! I don’t buy that Betsy Arakawa was leaving an advanced stage Alzheimer’s patient alone in the desert for several hours at a time in the days leading up to her death. A dedicated wife would not have been doing that if he had this level of impairment. Especially given they had the money for a sitter. And while people who knew Gene said he was slowing down, nobody mentioned significant cognitive impairment. So yeah, the advanced Alzheimer’s announcement sounds odd.

Anyway, if I I’m ever diagnosed with Alzheimer’s I’m finding a Dr. Kevorkian to take me out once it advances,
Speaking of "fricking retarded". Tell me, in your mind, how this works?
Pick a date in the future? Take a cognitive test? Who makes the call?

Moral of the story: Please check in with your elderly parents every few days, if not daily, especially if they are in poor health.

He probably died of dehydration which they don't say. He was not tended to for a week.

Dr. Jarrell said it was possible, given Mr. Hackman’s Alzheimer’s disease, that he did not know that his wife had died. It was unclear whether Mr. Hackman was able to take care of himself on his own. Autopsies were performed on the couple, Dr. Jarrell said, and Mr. Hackman’s showed that his stomach was empty, meaning he had not eaten recently, but she said he did not appear to be dehydrated.

I thought one of the reports was that he hit his head? Am I misremembering that?
Guy had a dead wife and no one in the house for 7 fricking days, and he didn't alert anyone.
Its very possible he was able to drink water on his own, but very little beyond that. That seems very possible.

They had not talked to him in months. They just really didn't have a relationship. He didn't have one with his dad, and he mentioned that his career and I'm going to assume his own personal choices led to him not having much of a relationship with his family.
Very unfortunate. Very sad.

Exactly. My point was that we shouldn't assume anything normal here due to Alzheimer's and the wife likely being hermetic herself and set in her ways.

Initially, there was some speculation that his wife may have fallen and hit her head on the space heater or that the heater fell on her head. That was very early when there were many theories.

Unless they lived in a hovel surrounded by aggressive mice, seems unlikely she would have contracted an RNA disease spread by mice They had to have housekeepers, right?
Also, why would she just suddenly collapse in a heap in the bathroom with pills strewn everywhere and the dog locked up?
This explanation brings more questions than answers.
Only if you are the type of person who acts like they are an expert on the topic after skimming a single article.
Most common way of getting the bug is via aerosol of waste.
So she could have gotten it rummaging about/cleaning in the attic or shed from a mouse a died a year ago. In fact, that’s how it typically happens. No need for your made up scenario requiring a war being waged with aggressive mice over a hovel.
And wait…..who found them you say? A pre scheduled pest control service that likely stopped by monthly? Gee sounds like they may have had a mouse issue they found and addressed in the not too distant past.
But yeah, nothing here fits, mr conspiracy theorist.

Just read that authorities think she died and he died 4-5 days later. They are unsure he was aware she had died

Was the current wife a homewrecker? That could explain the kids not coming around too. Lesson here is be careful who you marry.
It was a week, some of yall are acting like they were dead for months.

Who the frick gets Hantavirus in 2025? It's contracted from being around large quantities of rat urine and feces? What kind of conditions were they living in?
Shame on their kids.

Arakawa may have caught the ultra-rare but deadly virus from the garage of the couple's mansion, experts have said.
DailyMail.com understands that while there was no rodent activity in the main house, there were rodent droppings in the couple's garage and outhouses. Specialists told this website Arakawa could have picked HPS up from cleaning those areas.
Hackman and Arakawa's dog was also found dead in the house. Authorities note that while there is evidence that dogs can catch the virus, the animals do not show symptoms and there are no recorded cases of them passing the virus on to human
