So the 41-year-old mother of two, who has a doctorate in fashion merchandising, started her own business called Svaha (which is how her daughter's name is pronounced) to sell clothes that upend gender stereotypes.

These apparel choices can have enduring repercussions by affecting kids' interests and long-term goals.

At major retail outlets such as Children's Place and Gymboree, there are few, if any, options for the girl who loves dinosaurs or football. Same goes for the boy who loves unicorns and hearts..

neutral colors have always existed...

my daughter likes purple but she also likes dinosaurs, so now I could buy her a purple shirt with dinosaurs on it

Haven't we always had gender neutral kids clothes? A solid yellow, green, or red shirt is about as neutral as you can get.

A) How do you pronounce it?

B) Who would name her kid Svaha?

My son loves Monsters Inc, Pluto, horses, and race cars.

What are his options?

All of those just look like regular ol' kids clothes. Absolute shame that some company is going to shell out cash to this bitch for her innovative and desperately needed "gender neutral" line, when you can probably walk into your nearest kids store right NOW and find clothes that already fit the bill.

Gender surgery is the only answer for him in a future US.

All acceptable, as long as the horses aren't "My Little Pony's." I would draw the line at purchasing my son a My Little Pony shirt due to fear of him becoming a "brony" in the future.

Crotchless panties for boys? There might be a market for that.

Technically yes, but now you have the opportunity to pay more for them and brag about it to your book club members.

How are those "gender neutral"? All of those look like regular girl's shirts with the only exception being the red one.

that is the point

its not really "gender neutral" clothes

its more girl colored or themed shirts with more boyish things on them like dinosaurs, sports, etc

which apparently I'm supposed to get angry about? I don't know

My daughter loves pink. She loves wearing crowns and head bands and likes putting on chap stick because it looks like lip gloss. She also likes playing in the dirt pile in the park across the street, running behind a John Deere toy truck and splashing in the water and mud in the gutter after it rains.

She doesn't have to wear a blue shirt with a dump truck on it to prove that she's likes blue shirts and dump trucks.

I came close with one of mine. Named her Svana, it's Celtic for "mistake".
