Lol if you think infantry combat has changed a bit since then. You have no place in this thread. Run along now back to your feminist SJW fantasy world.

It really hasn't.
If anything, it's even more of an unfit environment for women to be integrated. Rotating into combat for four to six weeks at a time like WWII or Korea would be more conducive for integration than a platoon or company stranded on a far-flung outpost for a year like they are now in this counter-insurgency type fight.
Oh, that's not to mention that the individual combat loads are much heavier now than they were fifty or seventy years ago. Drones and technology alone don't cut it; you still have to have those small groups of happy idiots willing to go hunt down and kill people and seize/hold land to actually win wars.
Let me guess: you were never in a combat unit, especially in an actual war?

This is natural result of an all-volunteer service. The general population has become distant from the culture and requirements of the various branches. At best, they read these articles from various defense journalists who try to describe current forms of war and predict what the future will look like and extrapolate from there. Describing to them what actual, no shite combat is like at the gritty end of things is like trying to describe to someone what it's like on Mars.
People have this picture in their heads about drones, unmanned platforms, tech support, networked battlefields, and so forth: they don't view/read the accounts of the worst of the worst (Restrepo, Black Hearts, The Good Soldiers, One Million Steps, etc.); they don't understand how bad things can still get for Americans at the tip of the spear in these places and how crucial unit dynamics are to keep these kids from falling apart. Again, it's like talking in a foreign language.

Actually, they can, and I am dismayed that a serious social psychologist hasn't tackled this kind of project. It's critical in group performance and leadership (granted, in business and other institutional settings - not military), and it affects the military a hundredfold more than any other organization in which I've worked; hell, I've studied some of this stuff in grad school, and I know it can be done. I am absolutely certain that Mabus and his ilk wouldn't like the outcome.

The problem is that the fastest way to General Officer is to command a battalion in combat, and so, the advocates for women in combat argue that we've got to have female battalion commanders in combat in order to give females an equal shot at making General Officer.
I've thought about this, and putting women in the combat arms will not increase their chance of making General. Women are more than twice as likely to get hurt during their career as an infantryman. And that data is only from an experiment that lasted less than a year. I would say the odds of a women being able to function as a soldier after 20 years in the combat arms is basically nil. The will all be broken before they pin on Major.
So, women who pick non combat arms are still more likely to rise through the ranks than women in the combat arms.

I'm a male veteran and your wrong. IDGAF what standards they meet. And even if females do meet them they will barely meet them. Even the most physically fit women in the world would be among the weakest individuals in an infantry platoon.
I'm a male Marine veteran. Women are given different physical fitness tests. Instead of 20 pull ups, they do a dead arm hang which is basically them hanging with their chin above the bar for several seconds. They also are allowed more time on their 3 mile run. But yet we want to open up combat MOS and they have weaker physical fitness tests. It's political correctness attacking what keeps Americans safe.

They tried to start making females do pullups on the PFT a few years ago. They were going to have the same minimum of 3 but 8 pullups would get a female max score as opposed to 20 for males.
They even gave the females a full year in which to train and get ready for the new requirement. When it was finally out into place 60% of females could still not do 3 pullups. So they pushed the requirement back anot her year, when the deadline came around.....same results, so they've just given up on making females do pullups.

Yes, looking at you gay marriage SJWs too.
Don't combine those two. Gays getting married does nothing to harm anyone.
Women in the marines is terrifying and could weaken our military. That is directly harmful to you and everyone else in this country.

My Dad, a Marine veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam, and my son, a current Marine, both agree with that statement.
The worst thing is that you can only truly test the theory in combat, and if they (the ones who want women in combat) are wrong, it is too late.

I knew General Barrow. There wasn't a finer soldier in all of these armed services. He had a greater love of Country than any man I've ever known. He served his Country honorably and had a great love for his family, especially his daughters. If he thought it would weaken a force, he was right.
