IIRC, he had a wife and 4 or 5 kids. I really feel bad for them.

He was a corrupt public official. A Judge for Pete's sake! He royally screwed at least one party that we know of by dropping a jury awarded judgement from $5.2 million to $1 million......for a campaign donation. No, he was not a "decent" guy.

He deserves a max sentence. Corruption of a judge in that form (cash payment directly in exchange for changing a verdict) is a crime that threatens the entire legal and justice system of this country. If we can't trust judges in a courtroom then everything erodes from there.
