Another win for the city. The only thing this city is good for is taking down statues and buildings.

G.E. Has been in financial trouble for quite a few years. The China Flu may finish them off.

It's interesting that we paid them to bring 300 new jobs to the area and then 8 years later they announce that they're laying off "all 100 employees".

Statues yes, buildings, not too sure about that one.

I compete against GE on the medical device side, and I cannot say this surprises me one bit. Their entire portfolio has been run into the ground since Jeff Emmelt(spell check) took the reins. He is since long gone, but the downward spiral has continued. I know their technology is almost a decade behind the leaders in the medical device arena and I am assuming it is the same across their business units.

How did it feel to know that the state was compelling you to give money to your competitor?

Talked to a client today and they said this was known over a year ago it was closing. Resumes have been on the street for quite awhile.

Not very good, but they really aren't a threat any longer outside of their sole source agreements they have at a few key location.

GE appliances aren’t even part of GE anymore. They’re actually Chinese. I know this is a separate entity than this but it’s crazy to see a once great American company fall.

It came as quite a shock to the people working there

Yes, strictly on the capital side of the business. The only other dealing I have ever had with GE in the hospital is their biomed guys screwing up every piece of equipment they touch.
