Ever heard of tax exempt status?
Say goodbye to that for churches that refuse.
Lol, no.
The government is not going to strong arm churches to make them practice something within their walls that is against their beliefs.
It will not happen.

I too fully support gay marriage, but im not so sure acceptance wont be forced. We already see private businesses forced to serve through threat of fines. No reason to think it couldn't happen to churches with the threat of removing tax exempt statuses.
Seems like a violation of the separation of church and state, but when has the Constitution mattered to this administration?

Not that this is over, no one will be harmed and we can move on to actually important shite like reigning in our national spending, stopping the drug war, and reducing our debt so our economy doesn't implode.
Eh. In an ideal world, yes. But the truth is that no one wants to deal with the issues that actually matter. It makes everyone look bad. Politicians would rather bicker over a bunch of petty shite that should have been easily resolved years ago because it distracts from real issues that would otherwise keep them from getting elected.

Anyone taking bets on when Jindal will say something stupid about the decision?
Posted on 6/26/15 at 9:45 am to TheCaterpillar
It most certainly will. It's amazing how few people realize what just happened, and scary that they don't care.

the First Amendment might have something to say about that

Oh yeah.
They look at each other and think "wait, who buys who the ring?"
I bet a lot of breakups happen because of this. Before it was "Baby I'd love to marry you, but its illegal". No more excuses now.
I have a close gay friend that stood in my wedding and I bet he marries his boyfriend. They are awesome guys and that wedding is going to be fun as shite.
Really happy for them. I know, especially living in the South, this has been a tough situation for them.

No, it won't.
Churches are the most protected organizations BY FAR in our country. They aren't going to be strong armed to do a damn thing legally speaking.
Sure, they will have social pressure and backlash, but if a church and congregation don't want to marry a gay couple, they will never have to.
Posted on 6/26/15 at 9:48 am to Ash Williams
I see no chance they force churches to accept gay marriage. This whole thing is a big win for freedom. Forcing the churches to accept gay marriage, which is against the churches teachings, would be a big time fail for freedom. Would be very against, even though I'm a proponent of allowing gay marriage.
