The majority have voted against gay marriage. Out of 85 million votes cast in 39 elections in 35 states, over 51 million of them were to keep marriage between a man and a woman.

Today was a victory for the majority. Many (if not most) of these votes were 10+ years ago when only about 35-40% of the public supported gay marriage. Today 60% support and only 37% oppose it. Any vote today would certainly go in the favor of gay marriage.

Gallup number for Americans that support gay marriage...

1995 27%
2005 37%
2010 44%
2011 53%
2014 55%
2015 60%

That's exactly what the supposed gay marriage-supporting majority are doing.

So allowing a couple of people who you have never met before get married interferes with your rights? How? You've been asked this a few times. I'd like an answer. It doesn't. It prevents you from exercising your rights in no way whatsoever.

Wedding industry is about to get a huge boost. I’ve been to 1 gay union celebration and it was lavish as hell. They go over board and they average higher incomes than average hetero Americans.

The average wedding cost in the United States is $26,444 and I'm sure they'll be at or above that average. That’s good for local businesses for sure.

A gay friend of mine, who makes a damned good living in his business, posted on FB that he's retiring to do wedding planning.
He was half-joking.

My close gay friend is going to have the most absurd wedding. I can't wait. Two ex-frat boys from SEC schools that like to party and have awesome jobs with disposable income to burn.

ETA:

I was in a fraternity too guys, not a knock on them. Just referencing it to show they like to get stupid drunk and party.

Let them do their thing....Do I thing being gay is normal??? Not the way I live, But as long as I don't see two guys sticking each others tongue down eachs throat ,I can deal with it...... Two women are different... There is a difference between two Obvious gym coaches or pro bball girls getting married ,than there is two supermodels getting hitched... Funny though that you rarely see this........ AND For ALL the things that have had to be done to my rectal area the past 6 months,I justdont see how ANYTHING like intercourse between two men could give them any kind of pleasure.........

I just dont get it, its not natural, IMO.........

Not to mention we live in a Republic and not a Democracy to specifically stop tyranny by the majority from happening.

Well we've covered this.

It exists with several species in nature. From birth.

So by definition, it is natural.

No it is not as common as heterosexuality by any means, but a lot of things aren't common that are accepted as natural.

If it's any consolation to the few of you that seem to be inconsolable over the fact that you're losing your control over other people's private lives...

let's look at it from a financial perspective.

For one, tax revenues are going to increase for every gay couple that marries because their joint income will throw them into a higher tax bracket and they will no longer be able to "double dip" with itemized deductions on one partner's return while the other partner takes the $6,000+ standard deduction.

The ruling should give us better roads to drive on.

Better?

They should have really consulted PJ before this decision. Every gay person wanting to get married has to approach him beforehand. If he gets an erection while they make out, they can get married. If he stays flaccid, they can gtfo.
