I don't buy gas anymore. I ride a horse everywhere I go. Did the price go up?

Seems to be another case of bullshite by the blatantly dishonest media

The article they linked in that tweet stated there were lines and shortages so obviously a mistaken twitter headline. But I guess that proves the NYT is misleading.
Yes, that is exactly what it proves

Yet another reason that newspapers are going extinct……

There are two problems IMO
1) The tweet was verifiably false. Whether the article when posted this morning had facts that corrected the tweet's claim - no idea. NYT and WaPo regularly update articles and headlines in response to getting ratio'd, so that's also a possibility. There is a twitter account that tracks the NYT's deceptive changes to articles (usually without editor's notes or other commentary noting they changed facts, etc.), but I haven't looked to see if they have anything on today's piece.
2) The last line is surplusage that would NEVER be appended to an article about a crisis/event in a GOP presidency. It's just so out of place considering what we just dealt with over the last 4 years, where every headline contained wild speculation and unsourced hearsay. In a hypo where this happened under Trump, even giving NYT the benefit of the doubt and assuming they truly didn't think there were lines/shortages, that headline would have been - "Columbia Pipeline, a vital.... The shutdown raises more questions about America's reliance on fossil fuels and is sparking fears of shortages and gas lines not seen in years."
And deep down Spleen, etc. know that's exactly how they would have approached it under identical circumstances.

How can we have gas shortages in this country? Don't people know we have a female vice president?

In isolation I would say that the NYT is doing a good job by preventing panic buying, but given their history I can’t exclude that they are just trying to cover for Biden

We're leaving tomorrow morning for a road trip to upstate New York and heading back next week. How much trouble will we have finding gas along the way?
