So you’re supposed to make a profit when you buy gas or pay for a service?
You’re supposed to not buy something you aren’t comfortable paying an agreed upon price for, or negotiate.
I’m thinking big picture concepts. Not that you should make money buying gas.
But theoretically, the amount you spend on gas should be less than the amount to get you to work to make rather more than the cost of the fuel.
So when you think about it that way…kind of?

Since the owner can't speak English I have zero problem with people paying 45 cents/gal for his gas.

I mean, I’m a little torn. When we find stuff priced stupid low, like I think a poster found an expensive bumper for super cheap, we just automatically feel like we got a win and the store is supposed to be diligent in catching their mistakes
I'll frick Wal-Mart out of mis-priced items all day.
But wouldn't do that to Tee-Wayne's in Gonzales.

This happened at the Exxon at Staring and Highland a year or two ago. They were accidentally selling gas for like 10 cents although gas was much cheaper at the time.

Meaning this station probably usually has the most expensive gas in town. Screw em

I mean, think about Antiquetiger’s garage sale threads. It’s all about finding things for less than the value than we can get for Them and making a profit.
That’s completely different.
Someone knowingly putting a price on something, even if it’s stupid low, is much different than someone fat fingering a price into a machine. If the guy wanted to sell the gas for $.45 because he didn’t know gas was expensive, it would be similar to AntiqueTiger.

Nobody had told him in the last 5 hours
People were probably texting each other "hurry up and go fill up at ______ before they figure out they are selling gas for $0.45 a gallon".

Well, obviously. It’s not on the up and up, especially if you tell all your friends to come fill up for .45 cents a gallon. I’m just not seeing how it went on for 5 hours with him there and nothing is amiss.
No one came in and paid cash? There was no strangely increased traffic?
I’m saying it’s not technically stealing, since it wasn’t them that altered the price and the person who notified him is a Good Samaritan…but it’s ultimately up to the shopkeeper to mind his shop and catch things like this.
I just like to think about big picture concepts and lawyer around with things. I’m not talking specifically this instance.
I’m just musing

if Donald Trump was president this wouldn't even be an issue, much less a story.
but hey ... keep on wearing those mask and mailing in your ballots!

And the price per gallon? Just 45 cents.
and 27.4 cents of that went to the State of Tennessee

frick that. I’d have filled every car in the neighborhood up. Those frickers don’t hesitate to up the price the second a barrel of oil goes up, but when oil goes down it take two weeks to get to the pump price.

He isn't on the border in Texas. He's in Tennessee.

One man’s deal is another man’s larceny.
theantiquetiger thought $0.45 per gallon was highway robbery.

If only this could happen to the Bocage station and those shady frickers.
