I'm sorry, but I feel no pity for him. Having said that, I think he's an idiot.

It's 750 miles from Venice to the bay of campeche.

You could do it in under 36 hours with a jet ski and a small tow boat for fuel.

He is going to plea down to manslaughter and be out of prison by his middle age

No way I think he takes this to court unless their is a smoking gun (like a literal smoking gun on Ol Red)

Middle age? I would bet money he spends less than 5 years in jail.

Yes, I would have fled the country immediately. Even facing a lighter sentence of 5-10 years is possibly a death sentence for a college white boy.

*raises hand*

I know an upper middle class dumbass who joined a gang and crushed a guy’s head in, going up the river for 2nd degree murder.

1. I know plenty who loved to start shite and fight when they were in their 20's. Most of the time no one was seriously hurt but they never go in trouble either.

So you know some upper middle class kids who liked to fight, so you think that is comparable to a situation to a kid murdering an old feeble man

Credibility of the alleged eye witnesses will be huge. Also, this case was classified as a 2nd degree battery for a few weeks until the victim died in the hospital, meaning homicide detectives were not assigned to the case initially. That makes a huge difference in what investigation was done in the hours and days after the incident. If there were surveillance cameras that caught the incident on video but NOPD didn't retrieve them because it was only a second degree battery at first, the defense will be able to harp on that as the state not investigating thoroughly and therefore not meeting their burden of proof.

Per NOLA.com or the Advocate (cant remember which) the defendant also had a prior run in with NOPD a few weeks before where he was severely intoxicated, which wont look good for him even though I dont believe he was arrested. The state can still try and get that incident in under 404b to show a pattern of behavior.

This will be a very interesting case.

There's zero chance he gets 5. His best bet is 25 if he got the family and the DA to agree to a manslaughter, but it would need to happen before motions.

Reality is manslaughter and 35 down the road.

You didn’t ask if it were common behavior, you asked if we knew any kids like that who had committed murder.

Your inability to ask the correct question is not my problem.
