They are a complete waste of time. Garage sale people are the most wretched people on Earth to deal with. Good luck.

A couple of tips...

1. Don't let people park in your driveway.
2. Don't let people use your bathroom.
3. Sell water bottles from a cooler, especially if it'll be warm outside. Last one we did before I told the wife never again, we made almost as much money selling bottles of water for $1 than we did with all the crap we sold from the house.

Seems like a lot of effort for a few hundred bucks. I am also a get of my lawn old man so there's that too.

We had a garage sale once. I woke up at 5am to people poking around in my backyard.

"What the hell are you doing?"

"Isn't this where the garage sale is?"

"Yeah, that starts at 7. Get the frick out of here."

People who frequent garage sales are a weird bunch.

Wife made over $300 this past weekend on mostly baby clothes. All together with everyone else they sold about $2k worth of stuff.

And people who tried to haggle hard with me like this was Pawn Stars.

"It says $100, can you do $25?

"Absolutely not. $100."

"Well I'm not paying that much!"

"Then feel free to frick off."

These people pissed me off so much, that whatever we didn't sell I didn't leave with the trash, I packed it all up in my truck and brought it to the dump so that they couldn't get their greedy little rat hands on it.

They're no fun be we usually have one maybe once a year or every other year. We have lots of stuff that I deem yard sale worthy, but the wife disagrees. So if it's just you it should be really easy outside the people trying to haggle with you. It's easy to make an extra few hundred dollars or what. We have a drug rehab/charity place that has a store kind of like Goodwill.

Once we sell everything Saturday and Sunday mornings we call that place and they come pick it up and load up their box truck. They even give you a little slip where you can estimate the value of all the stuff and write it off on your taxes for the year.

I hit Big Lee's estate sale, you're right, they had an interesting bunch there...

You could tell the difference between the people who were there for the LSU crap, and the regular garage sale people. And quite a few of them knew each other...

We have a small family yard sale twice a year. My wife and I used to make about $1500 each time, but we haven't made as much lately because we've gotten rid of most of our junk

Oh yeah, you can definitely tell the difference. Some people, like my wife, frequent garage sales to see if there's anything they like.

Others make a business out of it, and it is very easy to pick these people out. They don't even attempt to hide it.
