will I need a sheet rock saw to cut or just a knife? 3) I have Servpro coming in a week or 2…should I spray my studs with a mold remediation product or not. If yes what product to use?
Thanks a lot in advance.
You can use a razor knife to cut it but these guys work the best.

If I have a dozen shingles missing and the tar paper is exposed....should I be ok with no tarp until next monday?

Is it in an area you can't put a temp cover on?
I hate to say it will be and something happens but the tar paper will add some level of protection.

I would never give insurance my contractors bid first. Get the insurance estimate first then go from there.
I should have said this as well. Let them dig their heels in first.

Stout,
If I have damage in multiple spots such as roof, gate and shed. Would it be best to call my insurance first for an adjuster or get estimates first?

I would get both working, getting an estimate may very well take longer than expected. And just in case make sure you do not sign anything with a contractor, these guys were running all around SW La last year asking for signatures just for an estimate and many people had no idea what they were signing until it was too late.

What if I have a tree on the house? Should I attempt to remove or trim the tree so that I can properly tarp it?
They indicated yesterday that would be ok but said we had to get proper pictures, documentation, receipts etc so making me a bit nervous to do the tree work even though it needs to happen

Yea you can remove the tree as long as you document it all. They prefer you get it off ASAP and cover the roof to keep more damage from happening.

Thanks Stout. That’s pretty much what they told me but helps to have another opinion

It is on the highest peak of my roof with a really steep pitch. I'd be concerned about falling for sure.

People like you and ambulance chasing attorneys are the reason La. has ridiculously high insurance rates. In the end, we all pay. No one gets anything over an insurance company. They will get their pound of flesh from us all.
Shut up dude. Get some knowledge on how a roof is installed. Patch jobs do not make you whole.

Video and/or pictures for documentation are a must both prior to removal and after removal. Also if you remove the tree yourself document your time for the removal and cleanup.

Finally got eyes on it. Will need equipment to get the tree of but need to ASAP to mitigate water damage.
Tree guys in the neighborhood, anyone got any guidance on choosing a tree service or just get anyone willing to take a credit card?

If it were me when I got back my shingles would have been mysteriously disappeared and there would be strange holes in the walls and extensive damage to everything. Fack insurance companies screwing over hurricane victims.

Stout :
So roof leaked and parts of ceiling fell from the wet weight of the insulation.
Where to start if I can’t get no one to tarp up the roof right away ??

Tarping really is number one. Nothing else matters until you get this taken care of. You can start cleaning up but new areas will get wet until you tarp.
If you clean anything up yourself, take photos for your records.

Crane removal will be expensive but if it feels ridiculously high check with your carrier first that it is within reimbursement range.
