It's after Labor Day, so white is definitely out.

They are not likely to care how those people are dressed

depends on where you live and what kind of people you are going to be around. generally black pants, blue shirt, and neutral tie. you can never go wrong with that in pretty much any indoor setting

Dark gray. I was told a black suit is appropriate if you work for the funeral home, but not necessary if you’re an attendee of the service.

Sounds like something a high schooler or bank teller would wear.
If you’re an adult, and it’s not some rural or coonass funeral, wear a suit.

Wear something bright that brings attention to yourself.

don't care if it is rural or coonass, if I'm going I'm going to show respect, suit and tie or at least a blazer, slacks, button down, and a tie

Most likely, the family is appreciative of anyone who made the effort to come honor their loved one. They are not likely to care how those people are dressed. I know I didn't.
I would. I do. Put some effort into it. Unless you’re coming from work or literally cannot afford to dress appropriately …dress appropriately.

Completely agree. I wasn’t excusing the rednecks or coonasses. Just know them and how they dress.

Something I enjoy at funerals to break up the bleak mood is to check out all of the 19-30 yo ladies in their black cocktail dresses and heels. Rarely do you see one with a hem anywhere near the knee.

Airbrush tee with victims face on it and some obscure rap lyric. Maybe the date too. This is nola or BR?

You can throw a jacket over the golf shirt. Would look more respectful.

I’m old school I guess. I’m wearing a suit and tie to a funeral. I’ve gone before and was the only person beside the funeral director in a suit. Doesn’t matter, I’m still wearing a suit.

Jeans, button up, and some dress shoes.

Happens to me often. Same at a wedding or even church.

If you're in the Houma area your best LSU or Camo buttom down is completely acceptable apparently

I bet the family was touched that you made the effort to stop at a funeral visitation on the way to playing a round of golf.
Which brings up the old joke. 3 friends were playing a round of golf late one morning. An elderly gentleman who was alone asked if he could join up with them. About an hour later, they were playing on a hole that ran parallel to a street. As the elderly gentleman was about to hit his shot, he noticed a funeral procession going by. He stopped, took his hat off and bowed as the hearse passed. Then, he went back to playing and hit his shot. Afterwards the 3 friends asked the gentleman why he acted as he did. The gentleman replied, "it was the least that I could do. We were married for 53 years." :rimshot:
I'll see myself out...
