Ft. Leavenworth soldier uses his car to stop man shooting at passing motorists

Man was on a bridge near Ft. Leavenworth, KS shooting at passing cars. He wounded one soldier who was driving by. Another soldier saw him and mowed him down with his car, pinning the shooter underneath the car.

“There was an active duty soldier assigned to Fort Leavenworth waiting in traffic behind the event who saw the event unfold and determined it was an active shooter,” Leavenworth Police Chief Patrick Kitchens told reporters during a briefing at the scene. “The soldier intervened by striking the shooter with his vehicle, causing him to be critically injured, ending the encounter with the active shooter and likely saving countless lives.”
