People getting run down by a friggin bus at a Christmas village in Germany. Watching video of the people running from the terminals and seeing parents pulling along or carrying their kids made me sick to my stomach. Horrible to think of them ever being in a situation like that.

I'm sure there are people more qualified to answer that question than me, but I'd say ending the war on drugs and investing in adequate mental health facilities would be a good start in reducing the amount of violence in our country.

2 excellent recommendations IMO. I believe the two are tied as well in that too many with mental health problems try to medicate with illegal drugs, illegally obtained scripts and alcohol. This problem as an artery for crime everywhere.

Apparently the guy had mental issues and was in a facility not long ago.

There's more to it than just that, but I think those two issues are at the root of a lot of the problems our country has regarding crime.
