I came across this "documentary" a few years ago after watching Dave Shaw's Last Dive.

Those guys are another level, white ppl, we are a crazy curious but mostly crazy bunch.

Much respect for those badasses, and that one chick.

I'm a diver for MANY years and I'm scared to do a cave dive. No thanks, I'm good.

I’ve watched The Descent. I’m good. Pretty terrifying movie.

There was some podcast I heard a while back about being on a rescue team for cave divers, maybe in Australia. They had a rotating list of who would be called out.

There was some accident and whoever was supposed to save the diver never came back. So when the next person on the list was called he knew immediately he was going to find two dead divers.

Mad respect to those who do that.

I torqued my courage up to watch a cave diving documentary, but then I heard the phrase, “The next passage is too narrow for breathing.” As in, someone would suck in their belly and hold their breath as they squeezed through a narrow underwater crevice without diving equipment, then pull everyone’s equipment through on a rope. Then, one by one, they would squeeze through, their backs and chests pressed to the walls of the crevice, unable to expand and breathe.

I turned it off, drank a milk glass of NyQuil, and tried to sleep.

I'm certified, but caves never interested me after an acquaintance of my dad drowned during a cave dive. I met the guy a few times and he was really cool. If I remember right, he came from a well-to-do family from Shreveport. Anyone on here remember Parker Turner?

I'll take this over those people that walk on ledges.

Didn't click, but if it's the kind of extreme cave diving where you go insanely deep and can barely move your body a few inches at a time because there's no space, it's an extremely weird death wish.

That made my dad have a panic attack. He had to get up and walk around outside for a while because he felt like he couldn't breathe on the part where they went through that tiny tunnel.

I still give him shite about it to this day even though I wasn't sure I was gonna make it through that scene.

I'm just glad some crazy fricks filmed going through the Devil cave system in Ginnie Springs so us cowards could enjoy it. My claustrophobic arse would panic and use up all my oxygen in half the time.

Also, frick going into any tight spaces where kicking up gravel will obstruct your vision. You gotta be fricking nuts to do that.

Knew a guy in high school who went missing cave diving at Vortex Spring in Florida. His truck was still there, but never found a trace of him. Some think he intentionally made it look like he died in the cave and disappeared, it's actually been on some mystery shows

I've done that too, but couldn't get past the mouth of the cave. No no no.

Used to help a guy map the caves at Vortex springs in FL. Also assisted in a body recovery in those caves unfortunately. Ended up finding some gear in a tight spot where you have to remove gear and push it through ahead of you to fit but never found body unfortunately.

These days, I'll pass and enjoy my leasure diving.

EDIT: jchamil that's the guy I assisted with
