Because its in city limits, its not the Parish. It was the city of madisonville.
Obviously favors were done, they didnt have appropriate ratio of parking spaces for what they were building. It was taken care of.

While it would make sense, that will never happen. I know if I owned one of those houses, Id never sell unless it was an offer beyond way too good to refuse.

that place would make a great laser tag/arcade

Honestly, the parking load on the neighbors was the reason I didn't go there. thought it was shitty to burden the residents with a for-profit's parking to such an incredibly unreasonable degree and I wasn't going to give them any of my money.

Having grown up in New Orleans and absolutely loved going over to Friends on the weekend for lunch or dinner with the family, but for the first time seeing the new Friends via that link, who in the hell thought that was a good idea
The charm of the pre-fire Friends is completely gone in that picture and does not look inviting at all. It's Madisonville for christ's sake.

Asshat, I realize that. Just thought I'd provide an actual link to a story about the topic.

I'm not surprised it closed. I live in Madisonville and was very surprised at how that place was built. Too big and too expensive, and their whole year is centered around holidays that involve boats and water. Not enough money year round to support that monstrosity...
That place reminds me of Jeff Goldblum's quote in Jurassic Park. They were so concerned with whether they COULD build it big like that, they never stopped to think if they SHOULD.
As it is, Friends is now just the billionth or so mismanaged restaurant that had to close because the people running it had no fricking clue how to do so.

It was not necessarily the management, it was incredibly high debt service, the lack of parking and the horrible food.

The big question is what happens to that giant building now. New management isn't going to solve the lack of parking or debt issues.

Let me go get this sumbitch repo'd then I'll go to auction and buy it at half of what I owed....GENIUS!

When the bank sells the property for a loss The Debt Service will be greatly reduced. As for the parking, there is available land next door however the new owners would have to make a deal with them.

Not to mention. Who is going to loan him the money to buy his building that he just defaulted on?

Declining service and an aggressive debtload led to the foreclosure

I went there once after it reopened hoping they had fixed the shitty service and food - I was disappointed.
