I actually had a colonoscopy done in May, I am now 34. My dad passed away at 58 due to colon cancer and I've been having chronic stomach issues for about three years.

Dr suspected ulcerativ colitis and I had polyps but my biopsies came back negative

Go to one of those strip mall places and get a scan from head to toe.

Has my first one late last year at 42. Was scared shiteless to do it. My dad had some pre cancerous stuff and his doc suggested all us kids have it done. If I had known how easy the test is I would not have stressed out so much. Prayers for your friend and if you are due to get screened do it. Too easy not to.

you'll probably get recommended for a scope. I did, and it's easy, painless and provides peace of mind.

I had this happen recently. Gut pain with blood. We have a family history of colon cancer, so the doc didn't want to take any chances. Freaked me out, but had a colonoscopy done and found it was just some internal hemorrhoids. I'm only 31. The colonoscopy procedure was a breeze after the initial clean-out the day before.

Most of us young men tend to ignore symptoms of things and walk it off. We think we're invincible and we're also told to be tough and focus on other aspects of our life.

My grandma had colon cancer. She fought her butt off, but it was eventually too much.

I'm a 30 year old male. I decided to have a colonoscopy this past year. Was having minor issues and wanted to check. Fortunately it wasn't anything serious.

I read somewhere that the number of people over 50 having colon cancer is going down while the number of people under 50 having it has gone up.

Nothing wrong with getting checked. Can't hurt.

Good luck to your friend.

colonoscopy when it's time.

Know your family medical history to see what you may be predisposed to genetically.

Talk to your primary care physician.

If it (cancer) wants to try to get you, it will.

WebMD will scare the hell out of anyone and have anyone who looks up the symptoms of the common cold thinking they have pancreatic cancer or aids or both.

It's the exact same thing as fricking horoscopes or zoadiac signs IMO.

People read that shite and apply it in any way possible. "Capricorn's are strong willed, but loving." "OMG, that's me, I told Tommy to eat shite that one day, and I absolutely love my ferret. How did it know?!?!?!"

Cancer Symptoms are: Fatigue, weight gain, moodiness. "OMFG I HAVE ALL OF THAT!!!"

When I was in my 30's i asked to get a test of my butthole. They wouldn't do it. Now that i'm in my 40's i'm sure they'll want me to wait till i'm in my 50's before i finally get to see Dr. Stinkfinger. Pissin me off.

Prayers for your friend. Lost my Dad to cancer a year from tomorrow.

I'm 40, but every year I get a physical (no finger in arse crap my doctor checks PSA blood level instead), and a large blood test workup. It's partly because it lands me on the preferred insurance program at work, and partly to keep me in front of any issues hopefully.

I had some gut issues a few years back. Went to the doc. Diagnosed with IBS. Which is basically just acknowledging the symptoms and not providing a resolution. Apparently gut issues are hard as shite (no pun intended) to diagnose because the symptoms of serious issues and very minor, common issues overlap.

And I totally agree about not reading WebMD and other sites. I was convinced I was going to die when I looked up my symptoms.

Jesus. Sounds like my typical Tuesday. Good luck to your friend. I'm nearly 30 and will ride this fricking body of mine as hard as I can until it's over.
