I usually block off my Outlook calendar from noon to five on Fridays so when anyone checks my calendar to schedule a meeting, they see I’m already busy.

Oh everyone has their calendars blocked off but this super important manager ignores that and schedules it anyhow.
Thankfully I don’t have to worry about this. The director and VP I answer to share my views on Friday afternoon meetings. And my team knows I’m not going to call anything after Friday morning.

HR scheduled an interview I’m sitting in in for 4 this afternoon.
Same, and when I tried to respond to the invite, the email bounced back!

What is funny about those is people will fake this attitude like they are so dialed in on Friday afternoon that they just can’t understand why that time would be an issue

I work from home on Fridays, and it is kinda understood that everybody has checked out after 3pm.

Never, we knock off at noon. No friday afternoon meetings allowed.

Sitting in training that’s scheduled through 4PM, and the regional director is sitting down the hall making sure no one cuts out early. Only problem is that the actual training finished before lunch, so everyone has been sitting around playing on their phones since noon. And, I’m staring down a 3 hour drive once I leave. Swear that clock seems like it’s running backwards.

Never, the company I work for always has our meetings pretty early in the day.. F**k a Friday afternoon meeting.

I had one former colleague that would set a lot of meetings on Friday afternoon. I’m usually still working anyway so I humored him on most. He’d also do stuff like preset emails to send at 2am to make it look like he was pulling all nighters. He did good work so we put up with it, but we were glad when he left.

lucky enough to work a 4/10 schedule and no meetings other than quarterly, unless someone royally screwed up

He's a micro manager for sure and old school as hell. Our 4:15 call everyday is an interplant between me, him and another guy here in Ohio and several guys in our plant in Texas. The kicker is we also have a 10:00 am meeting everyday with the same people. It's absolute madness.
Poorly run or unnecessary meetings are productivity wasters and soul-busters.
My simple rule is this. If the meeting I call does not present anything of value, solve anything, promote communication between departments, or propose anything new, then a meeting should not take place. I do not need to have a meeting to hear myself talk if a simple e-mail will suffice.
