re: Anyone quit smoking cigarettes?
Posted by breesussaves on 8/24/23 at 3:33 pm to braves21
I quit cold turkey after 10 years. for me it was more of a habit instead of an addiction.
I had to consciously stop going inside of gas stations or i would buy a pack of cigarettes. Once i stopped buying them quitting was easy.

Hope it doesn't have an inscription. My BIL's dad found out the hard way when he proposed.

I just watched the investigation on this the other day.
She was the pilot in command, the pilot monitoring was the senior pilot. She was taking her first flight into this newly opened airport and the senior captain was there to train her on the approach proceedures. It was his job to configure the aircraft. She had control of the yoke and the throttles. Unfortunately neither of them noticed the torque output on the propellers was 0% and when they took the final turn to the runway they both finally noticed that their airspeed was too low and that they had no thrust even at 100% throttle. She transferred command to the senior captain since he had experience on this approach and she finally saw what happened to the props by that time it was too late and the aircraft entered a stall.

Worked as a contractor for UPS a while ago. There aint no way in hell I would work for them without being union. Management is awful, work conditions are terrible there as well. Good for the workers!

Stage 5 clinger. Should be fun intially though.

All depends on what you want to work. Electrical I was making around 29/hr plus benefits. 40 hour checks sucked. Running the roads and working OT and per diem its very possible to make over 100K/year in the trades. I'm lucky to have found a job at home after 10 years on the construction side of things. I can finally live pretty comfortable on 40 and sleep in my own bed every night.

re: How durable are pickleball paddles?

They should last a while. You can hit a pickleball as hard as you want to, they don't like tennis balls though..

A guy I worked with 10 years ago had his first kid on the way. Played a lot of blackjack, big swings either direction. He called me one night hollering about winning 8k, and I told him to stay his arse out the casino. The VERY next night he called me and after about 30 seconds of silence he told me he lost 12 grand. He did the right thing and signed the papers to ban himself from casinos. But a week after that he called me on his way to Biloxi :banghead:

I was reading how much everyone else's insurance increased, and was very thankful to be a USAA member as well.

Same here I lift 5-7 days a week, still play golf or basketball, but pickleball is just as fun for me. Its pretty laughable that people have a problem with what others do for fun :dunno:

In our area alone every day there are hundreds playing pickleball morning and night. Just because you don't see it at your park, doesn't mean it isn't happening. Ascension Parish has a huge group that fills Lamar Dixon on Monday and Wednesday mornings and the Gonzales and Duplesis courts in the evenings, in Baton Rouge multiple BREC gyms and YMCA's courts are full.
