She wanted to do biomedical engineering but loves chemistry. We have an acquaintance on a medical school admissions board that told us any engineering help her get accepted.
A guy I graduated with in AE then went to med school. Our pediatrician is a ME. It's fairly common.

I am. Always have been. It also goes back to being one of the few female Aerospace Engineers @ Auburn.
May not have been a good idea to have shared this. The OT has an amazing talent for finding out a persons entire life story off of less info.

You should be safe as long as ya don't give anyone a reason to mess with you.

ChemE then Med school.
This seems like a strange path.
More work for the same reward, but it's a decent path. Most of the medical school prerequisites are already in the curriculum. It can help you stand out among applicants, and you have a pretty solid backup plan if medicine doesn't work out.
Tough road, though. Wouldn't be my first choice.

Pretty sure they put the engineering students in one of the nice new dorms. If she has a scholarship it won't be too bad. Those dorms are very nice.

Freshman & Sophomores living on campus have to have a meal plan.
That works out to roughly $5k per semester and makes apartment living more attractive financially.
But she will make more friends and be immersed in campus life, living in the dorm.
Pros & cons to consider.

Calm down Acrenator. They already ran that joke into the ground.

I'm not sure of the engineering dorms, but aren't freshman from out of state living on campus not allowed to have a vehicle? Or am I remembering wrong.

I know Vanderbilt doesn't allow freshman to have a car. Never heard that at LSU, in-state or out.

That is hilarious. Too bad she'll never cop to it.

I have nothing to confess. Happily married. Not that you care. Now no more personal info.

Definitely not a bad idea to do engineering. I'm not super familiar with pre-med reqs and the ChemE curriculum, but it seems to me Bio Engineering would just be the wiser decision. Engineering puts a lot on your plate with it's own requirements. Add in the other pre-reqs to get into med school, and it may just cause undue difficulty. I'd pick the one that covers the most that applies to me getting into med school if I'm dead set on med school.
Now if she's looking for something that she may change her mind and just do engineering, then that's a good choice.
I know with an ME degree, it would have added a few extra semesters to knock out the other pre-reqs required for med school. And I already took too long to graduate.

I'm confused...if your daughter is so smart and Auburn is her first choice...why waste the time and money visiting LSU? Obviously she will have no problems getting into AU so...I don't get it.
