YOUTUBE LINK LYNYRD SKYNYRD IN OAKLAND

1. Freebird 6:10 to 10:00, the greatest ~4 minutes in rock and roll? If no, then what you got.

2. Giant confederate flag in Oakland and no one is rioting.

3. 6:54 mark, WYHI rank order 1- 8 (or top 3) from white shirt cans to do-rag head.

4. 9:36 first planet of the apes citing in the area Dr. Zaius

5. Anyone ever see the post plane crash band play live? Saw them once and i counted no less than 3 fights during that 4 minute run. Just something about it that makes people go wild.

6. Battle of the rocker outfits:

Allen Collin's white jumpsuit and flowing locks

VS.

Leon Wilkeson's black leather vest, brown leather pants, pilot hat and shades.

Awesome video. Man they were rocking out hard. I love these old live shows from the 60’s and 70’s

People didn’t give a shite until they were TOLD they should, and then like obedient little puppets, they complied.

Programming people. Programming.

Couple times in the 90's. They were a regular Summer tour.

Haven't seen the new Showtime documentary yet, but saw a preview where one of the guys says the giant Confederate flag was an idea from the record company.

Definitely one of the great rock n roll performances.

Virtually all of David Gilmour's solos, especially on Comfortably Numb, are also great moments.

The internet is addicting but music is much more gratifying.

An underrated moment was Nirvana's MTV Unplugged in 1993, and their cover of 'Where did you sleep last night". youtube should go to 48:27

My vote is for SRV's solo during Texas Flood at the El Mocambo

That would be the time Queen descended upon the stage at Wimbley Stadium and completely stole the show at Live Aid with Freddie Mercury having complete control over the crowd, controlling them like a puppet master

Nothing compares to that set

Saw them this summer. Had free tickets so it was a no brainer. But we didn't stay long. Had a young one with us and the crowd was "interesting". We take him to lots of concerts, but the amount of people smoking at this one made it not great to have a 3.5 year old there. It's an outdoor venue and it was that smokey. I actually think Lynard Skynard is a great band, with smart lyrics and good music. But theres only one band member left and their fan base has the most fat rednecks I've ever seen. Wasnt worth staying.

One of my favorite extended multi guitar solos but "the greatest" is subjective there are just too many others. Most Allman Bros songs at Fillmore East or The Eagles "Hotel California" in the '70s with Joe Walsh are other great, iconic guitar solos.

My greatest 4 minutes in this context would be Hendrix closing Woodstock with the Star Spangled Banner. It was very different for the times and completely unexpected. Brilliant.

Hendrix Woodstock

One thing that stands out to me is how much thinner folks were then.

The Low fat / high carb push of the 80s took a bunch of cute girls away from us.

Could you imagine a southern rock band going into California with that “racist” flag today? My have times changed.

Solid choice.

However, I pick The Who at Woodstock as the sun was rising on the Sunday morning.
