NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - New Orleans police are investigating four similar restaurant burglaries that occurred over a four-day span. A break-in early Saturday morning (Oct. 1) rattled nerves at El Taco Loco on S. Carrollton Avenue in the River Bend area near Uptown New Orleans.

Video surveillance shows two hooded thieves make off with a safe full of documents as well as a cash register. In just two minutes, Guerra says the burglars took thousands in equipment.

Just down Carrolton Avenue in Mid-City, Brown Butter is recovering after two thieves broke into the restaurant on Monday. Felipe’s Uptown was also targeted by two individuals in hoodies on National Taco Day. Around the same time, the New Orleans Police Department says a business on the 4500 block of Freret Street was hit by someone who rode by on a bicycle. Police could not say whether the break-ins were connected to each other.

Near the corner of Carrolton Avenue and Hampson Street where El Taco Loco is located, other business owners are worried about the uptick in crime. The NOPD is investigating a theft on Sept. 23, two separate unarmed carjackings on Sept. 22 and Sept. 25, and a property snatching on Oct. 4.

Nothing like New Orleans fine dining!

That’s why I moved. I lived by brown butter and at one point by taco loco.

Crime is everywhere. Those dudes were shot not far from that taco loco.

But they have insurance, right you filthy liberals? Your city is a fricking shithole.

Don’t worry, one of our resident democrats will be here shortly to explain how this is either not a big deal, or that is bringing up awareness to this horrific situation does absolutely no good so just stop talking about it.

I frickin hate all these people who walk around in hoodies in 70- 80 degree weather. It's like, look at me!!!!! I may or may not be a low life hood.

New Orleans had better do something about the crime or it WILL become Cairo, IL.

So they targeted multiple Mexican restaurants because they knew they’d be loaded to the gills on national taco day?

Were they part of oceans 11??

New Orleans has survived wars, The Great Fire, Katrina and other hurricanes, yellow fever, and corruption throughout its entire history, but Latoya's reign of terror will be the thing that finally breaks the resolve of the people. I have lived there most of my adult life, and still own property there, but I have gone from trying to spend as much time as possible there, to getting in and out as quickly as possible. Everything she touches dies. Even the garbage collector filed for bankruptcy.
