The amazing thing about all of this is that these individuals live in a world/society where they largely don’t have to worry about Little Steve living to old age because of fricking vaccines.

You don’t see parents in Africa acting like this. They are grateful for vaccines.

You didn’t see our grandparents acting like this.
They dragged their little brats To go get vaccines because they experienced the brutality of nature that so many ignorants want to return to.

So for whooping cough, do people make sure that everyone who comes to see your kid is up to date? That seems just as risky since you are not fully vaccinated until a year.
How many cases of diphtheria a year and how many are fatal? I’ve had to spend the night at the hospital a couple of times bc of bad colds for my infant kids bc of “minor” colds. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone and would understand if they played the % to avoid that situation.
See above for HIB.
I’m pretty sure polio is not issued in first 6mo.

Well is the medical treatment in Africa and the 1950s the same as here in 2018?
If I lived in the middle of nowhere Africa, you better believe I would have every vaccine available. Those places have cleanliness and light years behind our current situation in the US.

How did the vaccinated kid get meningitis?

Pertussis kills babies.
I took care of a baby that died from this. His dad gave it to him.

This is why herd immunity is so important... because babies and some are too young to get the vaccine. But that baby got it from somewhere else - likely from someone ego should have been vaccinated.
The goal is to keep the disease out of the community, once it enters, shite like this happens

You mean the one where more and more parents either refuse or stall vaccines...causing herd immunity to decrease?

Exactly my point. Preventing exposure is clearly more important since the kid isn’t supposed to get his 1st vaccine until 3mo. I would be willingly to bet the death rate for whooping cough drops significantly the older a child gets and those most susceptible are those younger than 3 mo.

Plus the fact that there isn’t raw sewage running down the side of every street. Vaccines are just one of the many things that separate us here now from Africa or even the US 60 yrs ago.

7 pages... and not a single mention that there are 3 types of meningitis... bacterial, which y'all automatically assume, viral, and fungal. i got the viral type at 2 weeks old, fortunately my mom was an er nurse and recognized shite wasn't right really early on.

Ok but I was just saying vaccines is just one of the many things that separate us from Africa.
Plus MMR isn’t even recommend before 18mo.

As someone who almost died from bacterial meningococcal sepsis, I hate seeing this.
One thing to consider, there are multiple strains of meningitis and not all of them are covered by the US vaccine. There are European strains that you may be vulnerable. Americans have died recently from this.

I have heard a whooping cough child's cough. Anyone that hears that will convert to pro-vaccination, if not already.
