California police are looking for four men who ran into a crowded Apple store in Fashion Fair Mall in Fresno and started grabbing as many devices as they could before escaping through the crowd.
The four young men, dressed in sweatpants and hoodies, managed to snag over $27,000 worth of iPhones, laptops, and tablets, during the brazen robbery.

If if only there was a way they could track these devices somehow...

Yeah, so be on the lookout for a couple of shady characters trying to sell you the new iPhone 10 in the Circle K parking lot....

That's what happens when you make charge cables that break all the time.

So if the clerk called 911 before the robberies about some hooded dark skin folk that looked shady, he would’ve deemed a racist

Wonder if they set them up with a store account and turn that on.

The kind of people who work at an apple store are the types that probably describe the perp as “tall, dark hair, brown shirt” but leave out skin color.

Big ole baw in the black tank top and flip flops should have thrown a clothes line on the dude with the armful of laptops. Instead he just stepped out of the way. Or even just stuck a foot out and tripped the guy.

Aren’t Apple’s display computers encrypted specifically for events like this?

You’re right, I can make an appointment online and spend less than 15 minutes at either of them.

One would think so. Seems like they should be able to pin point their location within a few minutes

Do it on the website.

The DMV here has a mega center and you get in line through their website and they text you how long the wait is. Last time I went, my number came up while I was driving and I had to text to put myself at the back of the line 3 times before getting there. Spent 10 minutes getting a new license.

Apple has a MDM "mobile Device manager" that is quite robust. We use it in our office and have tracked "stolen" phones that were later found in the trunks of cars belonging to the employee's wife. I would hope they have some protections built in the stores.

Apple could also simply inventory the lost items and set those device ID's to "Lost" which means the first time they connect ot the internet, they will start loudly alarming until the owner turns Lost Mode off.

There's this swole dude standing at the door watching these thieves roll out with the computers.

If that happened in LA, we would have grabbed one of those skinny thieves by their damn neck until the cops arrived.

But, this is in Fresno. The govt probably figures these young men are entitled to this stuff because reparations.
