What color categories? I can recommend some I’ve used and liked.

I’m a blue/black guy. I use a waterman ink which writes smooth with my Lamy 2000.

Once I passed the bar back in the last century, I went on a spending spree.

I had also gotten my first credit card.

Envious of my boss's Montblanc, I bought half a dozen nice pens.

I think I left them at the firm.

I’ve been using this for the last year… love it. I also have Noodler’s Dark Matter. It is a nice black…a little gray.

I have used various colors of Montblanc blue bottle ink (currently Permanent Blue) for 35 years and never had an issue with it.

The best purple IMO is the Waterman Violet but like all Waterman ink it tends to stain the convertor but it is a non-issue unless you can see the convertor through the pen.
