Yeah, but aside from Japan, there's not a mentality that so long as you pay 350K to "save wildlife", that you can go out and harpoon a Humpback Whale for a trophy kill. It's fricking insane to me.

well managing land and the oceans are quite different
if you had private ocean preserves, I would imagine the same type of thing would happen

Yeah, but people like Jimmy go out and brag about killing elephants, and many don't bat an eye to it. If on the other hand he started bragging about hunting down a gorilla or a dolphin, then he might get a different response from those same people.
I'm just saying elephants should be perceived on that same level.

I just think the same people that don't care about him killing an elephant, wouldn't care about him killing a gorilla or dolphin if the circumstances were equal

Thousands more people travel to Africa to view and photograph these animals in their natural environment than do people who go to hunt them.
They're more valuable alive than dead.
Where are the statistics on this? Also, are the visitors bringing the cash that the hunters are? Each hunter spends a minimum of five figures when they hunt. It's well known that the presence of hunters increases the population of the target animals, because it creates a direct incentive for the landowners to protect the animals. I can find the articles if you want.

I wouldn't do it, but if he legally wants to go and do it more power to him.

I actually don't get the appeal of big game hunting. Shouldn't you only kill what you eat?
More so it can't be that hard to kill an elephant. They take you right to them and then you just point and shoot with an elephant gun. Seems to be no challenge (I could be way off base here).
I understand elk and the likes because you have to actually hunt them and stalk them. But this is like any other paid hunt, they put you right on the target immediately.

Shooting an animal that's an easy target like an elephant is as lazy as hunting fenced in doe.

Do I think he has a small penis?
Yes.
Do I care?
No.

It's bullshite if he killed any endangered species. That's fricked up.
No it's not. It's bullshite if he poached an endangered species. Did you miss the part about him spending $350K to kill said endangered species? If these animals wouldn't appeal to trophy hunters then none of this would actually be an issue because many of them would be extinct already. But, I don't expect most people to understand conservation and the role that hunters play in it.

Like on this trip, when he butchered an EXTREMELY ENDANGERED female Black Rhino. She was the very last black rhino in the Mangetti National Park

The counterpoint would be where did that $350k end up? I have no clue, but knowing how corrupt those countries are I have a feeling it was not exactly all put into some conservation fund.

Are those pics photoshopped? They all look odd

You're not just off base, you're not even in the correct ball park. These animals can, and do, kill guides and hunters. If it were easy, it would not have the same value. Fun fact, one of the most accomplished and skilled bull elephant guides was killed, by a bull elephant, while scouting an elephant hunt. I think that qualifies as a challenging hunt.
Side note, none of these animals go to waste. Every. Single. Part is used or consumed by locals.

Lol. Why are people trashing the quality of a sandwich that is relatively cheap and prides itself, in every commercial it puts on the radio, on how fast it's made?
Do you also go to Burger King and send back food because the patty wasn't cooked to your specification?

you can question how the governments use the funds, that is perfectly acceptable
but the fact still remains that these private preserves have incentive to preserve these animals for the big game hunters, thus also conserving and protecting them
it is simply supply and demand

I just don't see how having $350K makes you automatically morally righteous to go out and murder an elephant.
