You're her second cousin, once removed.
Iffy bro.

So, on the bright side.. if you marry her and she gets pregnant by another man, the kids will still be related to you anyway?

When the relationship gets more intimate remember this......buttsex equals no babies. Could save a deformed kids life

It turns out that my mother and her grandmother are first cousins.
If your great uncle "was married to" her ancestor, but they didn't produce children together, you're not related at all.
If your great uncle is her great grandfather, You are related in the 7th degree. She is related to her great grandfather in the 3rd degree, you are related to your great uncle in the 4th degree. 3 + 4 = 7. See the linked diagram.
As a comparison, 1st cousins are related in the 4th degree. No need to worry either way.
How do I know? You study degrees of kinship in law school in the area of successions.

It'll be a tiny bit weird catching up with her at the family reunion after you break up, but I'm sure that your Livingston Parish trailer park is filled with stories just like these.

OP, did have you and your new girl compare family reunion t-shirts? Y'all probably have a few matching ones
Once when I was a teenager I went to a family reunion of my paternal grandmother's family with her and my Dad. I saw a girl there, and asked my Dad, "Who is she?" His reply, "Oh, she's __'s daughter." "Who is __?" "She is __'s daughter, who is related to your grandmother." "SO, what is she to me?" "She(the girl in question) should be your fourth cousin." "Oh, that's not enough to worry about."

Just thought about this from my family. I’m not even close to my 2nd cousins, I couldn’t imagine sleeping with one, much less their kids
