It's pretty simple. my older brother started having kids in early 20's. I didn't start until late 30's. We are less than 5 years apart. his oldest child is about 23 years older than my youngest child. His youngest and my oldest are much closer in age, but it's not hard to have large age gaps in the same generation.

Right. Age gaps add up pretty fast. My mother's oldest sister is 14 years older than her because her parents had her when they were in their late 30's. Her sister started having children in her mid 20's and my mom waited until her late 20's and early 30's. I have several first cousins who are about 20 years older than me. They started getting married and having families when I was still in elementary school. I'm closer in age to some of my first cousins' kids than I am to them.
This sort of situation doesn't seem like it would be that unusual.

As it has been posted many times in this thread, contrary to popular belief, it has been determined that even for first cousins producing children, the risk of genetic defects is pretty insignificant.

Btw, I have an exclusive of LSUSkip's mother and his sister when they were interviewed for a t.v. show once:
Springer actually left his Chicago studio and went on location to film this episode in Louisiana. They had so many applications from area it was just easier to fly Springer there than all the Louisiana incesters. They came away with so much content on tape that they were able to launch of special series of episodes with several parts just on Incest in Louisiana.
Classic Jerry and Classic Louisiana all in one. Great stuff!
