Hmm things that cause harm to other people do not equal thing that causes harm to no one.

quote:

If you believe in the God of the Bible then the answer is love. You have to deny your human desires and follow God, sacrificing your desires for someone else is the definition of love. Without sacrifice there can’t be love. Homosexuality is just one of those desires, just like lying, drunkenness or cheating on your wife. It’s a simple concept that for some reason few people seem to understand, including Christians. If you are unwilling to sacrifice your desires for someone than you don’t love them.

again this god you speak of sounds like a raging douchebag a-hole. You can keep it.

Why does someone believing in God bother you so much?

That is something I have never understood. Why does my belief system, or anyone else's belief system, bother other people so much? Maybe this will come as a shock to you, and then again maybe not, but not everyone that believes in God condemns those who don't. I really don't care what you believe or don't believe. It's not my place to judge.

Militant atheist progressive liberals destroyed it all.....God, family, country. We're seeing the devestating results played out everyday in massacres like Pulse Nightclub and Columbine.

.....scary part? They're not through with us just yet.

But he's still gay.

Growing up in the south, I'm sure we've all come across that weirdly religious guy that appeared to lead a heterosexual lifestyle but you just knew was gay.

Yep.

And who would CHOOSE to be bullied and beat up in school, discriminated against, etc... You’re either born one way or the other, there is no ‘choosing’ sexuality.

Because, oftentimes, laws and policy are based on these religious fairytales... That’s why.

I don't think that being gay prevents a person from being religious like being intelligent does.

doesn't at all, what bothers me is people using that belief to justify hate and discrimination. Also people who advocate for legislation based on that belief.

If it were as simple as "we believe in this" and everyone did their own thing then it would be all good. But religion has to canvas neighborhoods spreading their rhetoric. Lobby government to pass laws allowing discrimination. Post your religious propaganda on public buildings and institutions. Publicly shame anyone who disagrees with you.

I don't like bullies and big religion has always been a bully. So until you god-worshipers start minding your own damn business you can eat arse.

So, your fundamental dislike of my beliefs is something that I have no control over? I firmly believe in separation of church and state. I don't think any laws should be based on anyone's belief system, but strictly on what is good for society.

It seems somewhat petty to me to persecute and mock another for their beliefs over something that they very likely have no control over.

You don't even know me, yet here you are assuming how I act. It has always amazed me how broad the brush is that people like you use to paint Christians when you only know a fraction of them.

The problem with society as a whole, and not just "God-worshipers", is that very few mind their own damn business.

and yet, you will still continue to sin, as you live your life, some sins being intentional, some unintentional... so can you really sit there and say you've "turned away" from sin?

at best, logically, what you can actually claim is that you've decided to put your trust in a belief system and religious dogma, and that now you operate your life based on that... you are still going to be the person you were before, in large part, its just now you will have more rules you will try to follow and more introspective rationalizing/prioritizing life situations....

Where have I persecuted anyone for their beliefs? Or do you not know what hypocrisy means?

My statement applies to anyone, religious or not, who persecutes another for things they have no control over. I'm not sure where I insinuated that this did not apply to any particular group.
