Probably be worried they claim you molestered them. I see too many appeals dockets where the foster parents are being convicted of it. Either too many pedo couples are becoming foster parents or something else is going on.

go get one of them chinese babies, they'll be more well mannered.
China has been closed...other than special needs children per an agency known as Children of the World based out of the Mobile Area.
International adoptions can be tricky too. India is the same currently...special needs only.

I was referring to the adoption system itself.

I agree. Several friends who adopted although the children were infants. Still not necessarily an easy road to hoe I wouldn't think.
The hardest part for us was education; he simply hated school but we never relented. Education seems to be last on the list of priorities for DCS & it probably should be.....making sure the kids are safe, secure & fed should come first.

That I am going to be dealing with one of the poorest run branches of the State government.
My wife and I completed FC training and got a call about adopting privately so we put foster care on hold. Since I Have watched my friends who completed training with us have to deal with a bunch of idiots who were stuck on a job that they aren't qualified for.

in every profession, the portion that deals with family/child issues are considered to be the lowest of that industries food chain it seems

This can't be overstated enough. You don't even have to be convicted, the minute you are charged your life is over. Many of the charges are without merit too.

In the case I know of it wasn't even molestation. It was a claim of domestic violence in the house against the children. That is one of my fears...getting back to "what are my rights". I guess it becomes a situation of who reports issues first gets the benefit of the doubt.

Well...I work for NASA..soooo....I think I understand bureaucracy and government ineptitude. I see it daily.
Private is still an option. I caught the last agency not being honest and we got our money back when I told them all future communications would be in person or via email...no more telephone calls. It's a shame when you have to record calls dealing with the life of a child.

I'm sure these agencies that deal with children for their "benefit" greatly contribute to the baggage that comes with the kids, and don't even get me started with adopting through the Catholic church!

I'm Catholic. We tried that avenue first. It QUICKLY became obvious the Church was no more than a legalized human trafficking mechanism. Sad. That's all I can say about the business of Catholicism.
Don't get me started on advocates of the Catholic church for grandparents either...My mother was trying to get assistance through the church in order to see her grandchildren (her only 2) as my ex-Brother in law is a turd. She never once in 3 years has gotten to speak with an attorney through them.

I'm a foster parent to adopt in Ohio. It helps to Foster first so you are first in line to adopt the child that you have. Once in awhile someone who just wants to Foster will give up a child to a family that wants to adopt and the foster parent will have them for a while before they actually adopt. My advice to you is to say you will take in kids that are 5 years old and younger. Kids older than that usually have bounced around from house to house or have seen a lot of bad things. If you raise a kid from youth, you could teach him or her the way you want them to be raised. And also be prepared to have a lot of Rules from the agency and you can't slap or hit a kid. I can give you a lot more answers to questions if you have them
