A Bronze Star with a V device isn't a joke either.

Hell anything with a V device on it is no joke.

Girl with the red badge is a marine and an astronaut. Probably has advanced an degree in engineering or something too.

The V on a medal means it was awarded for valor. For instance, you can be awarded an army commendation medal for being a good squared away soldier, or you can be awarded the same medal with a V device for doing something brave in combat.
