Wouldn't shock me if the Honda Accord was the most popular on the retail side.

Regardless, they're both midsize sedans. Midsized sedans aren't dying is my point

Yes but car sales are dwarfed by trucks. The top 3 selling vehicles are F-series, Silverado and RAM.

And clearly mid size sedans are trending down. Camry sales are 9+% less than last year. Fusion almost 14%.

I didn't realize the Fusion was the 15th best seller in the US, that's pretty good actually.

Of course with mid sized sedans a lot of those are fleet sales.

I had a Fusion and thought it was a pretty good car. Got to about 180k miles (7 years) without any major issues. Only had to get new tires once. Not the coolest car but did it's job and even got 30 mpg.

It's a shrinking segment, but it won't be dead anytime soon. I'm a little surprised Ford is pulling out of it.

Most of the "mid sized" cars sold in the US are a little too large to be popular in Europe, so if sales dwindle in US and Canada, they have real trouble justifying them.

The smaller segment (Corolla/Cruze/Golf/Focus) is basically all sold worldwide with minimal changes. Slow sales in the US won't mean the model gets canceled.

Your entire OP is incorrect. The rumor was Ford was going to stop producing Fusions in Mexico and start making them only in China, NOT stopping production entirely.

But now.....

Ford (F) is denying a Reuters report this morning that the auto giant will build and import Fusion sedans from China to the United States. Ford currently assembles the Fusion in Mexico and said back in June it would transfer some production to China.

Good. Had a 2013 Ford Fushion. Had nothing but issues. The coolant systems and the sensors that control them are fricked. There is a recall but no solution for the problem. Everytime it would overheat and die on the highway, I would have to get it towed to the dealership to replace the sensors.

Chrysler recently ended production of the 200 mid sized sedan as well.

Well the 200 was the worst-built and most problem-prone small sedan since the Jaguar X-Type. They stopped making it because it fricking sucked.

Thank you. As a stockholder, I was surprised to read this on O-T without hearing it from Ford first.

Actually the Explorers have been leaking Carbon Monoxide into the cabin because of widespread exhaust manifold leaks.

When? Sitting still or when in motion. I'm amazed it happens when flow through ventalation.

Ford is replacing it with a “greener” car with a twin cylinder twin turbo model that produces 300hp.
Consequently the drive train warranty will be reduced to 2 years/5000 miles (whichever comes first) since the engine will blow apart just north of 5500 miles.

These are the most satisfied Ford customers judging by the lack of survey responses.

My company car is a Fusion. It’s a horrible car. I couldn’t imagine buying one.
