Ford Recalls 91K EcoBoost Models over Potential Engine Failure

The issue is faulty intake valves on 2.7- and 3.0-liter engines in 2021–2022 Ford F-150s, Broncos, Explorers, Edges, and the Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus too.

The recall affects 2021 to 2022 models with those engines, including the Ford F-150, Bronco, Explorer, and Edge; the Lincoln Aviator and Nautilus are affected too.
quote:
Ford says the issue involves faulty engine intake valves that may fracture and fall into the combustion chamber, causing catastrophic failure.

So Ford and Toyota are actually acknowledging and fixing their engine failures meanwhile Chevy/GM is just screwing people over acting like nothing went wrong with theirs.

It's a good engine

Had a 2018 Edge which started having issues (coolant leaking into cylinder). It was common enough with that model that I was able to research it and find people trying to start a class action over it. Got rid of it as soon as in could. Ford wasn’t proactive about it. They did redesign the engine in 2020 because of it.

The entire ecoboost platform is a massive piece of shite.

Seems to be a lot of V6 truck engine failures lately. Hmmm.

There is also a class action suit against them because they masked the problem and didn't properly fix it.

These turbo V6s and 4 cylinders will be all we'll be able to buy in a half ton or smaller in 5-10 years.

Huh, issues are so bad they recalled them again.

2011 F150 4x4 - Ecoboost with 251k miles
Transmission problem @ 150k miles. $1000 fix.
No other engine issues.
You buy what you want and hope it doesn’t end up with a factory issue or that it’s a lemon. I’ve had good luck with this truck and engine. Plenty of power when I need it.
People still can’t believe it’s 13 years old when I tell them.

Dude, just do a little research on the internet. there are thousands upon thousands of examples of the ecoboost shitting the bedand failing catastrophically. v6 and 4 cyl, and they are all failing for the same reasons, it is a poor design and Ford should be held accountable and make it right for the scores of people who got screwed by these engines.

I've had four 5.3 GM engines totaling over 478,000 miles and had no trouble with them.
Seems to be the turbo V6's that can't hold together.

I felt lucky to get out from under mine with a few thousand more than I owed. It wasn’t long for this world. Already smoking when cold (due to coolant getting in cylinder). Had like 70k miles on it.

Tons of people have had major problems with their active fuel management system and lifters.

Can agree. Love mine and I still don’t know why it’s not more common

Wish they would have continued the 2.8 in the Colorado. The new gen looks great. Should have that engine as an option.

There's a reason why I bought a 8 cylinder and it's because that's the only engine Ford does a decent job making.
Now with the 6 cylinder craze I'm gonna sit out until they figure this shite out.
