If they read the OT they would have known about F-150 transmission problems years ago.

Reuters

quote:

Ford Motor Co said on Wednesday it was recalling about 1.48 million F-150 pickup trucks in North America due to a potential transmission downshift issue that could increase the risk of a crash.

Ford said select 2011-2013 model year trucks with six-speed automatic transmission could experience an unintended downshift into first gear without warning, which could result in the loss of vehicle control. Ford is aware of five accidents, including one report of whiplash potentially related to the issue

But at least it doesn't have a ghey tailgate.

That's the special "Money Shift" option.

5 accidents in approx. 1.5 million pickups. That's like .00033 percent chance of an accident. What am I missing here?

I don’t care how small the chance is, if I know every time I drive im spinning the wheel of chance my car is going to go out of control I’m not happy.

Has Nissan recalled the CVT, admitting it’s a failure?

They don't recall those. They just let the customers pay to replace them.

A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one.

The chances are vastly higher you'll crash your own vehicle because you were messing with you phone while driving.

According to the article nothing like that has been reported. The article says Ford knows of 1 report of whiplash.

Like Ford did with their fancy F-150 spark plugs breaking off in the heads?
