Ford has leaked pictures of their new Bronco crossover

...and the new Bronco SUV.
Bronco Crossover - with a 3 cylinder engine and CVT built for the Hertz lot. This is the Bronco for the budget-minded shopper that missed the styling of the original V6 Ford Escape and wanted a throwback, but without those extra 3 cylinders.
And the Baw-friendly Bronco SUV, which is a re-skinned Ford Everest (Ranger).
I know what you are thinking. What’s so original about a couple of Fords with the hood up, right?
Well, these are actually new products from a struggling company that is trying to display relevance to stockholders. Since the flames of fear are burning about Coronavirus, Ford has elected to leak Bronco photos to the internet rather than show it in a giant convention center full of people.

Give me the original all day long and stop with the reproduction and less desirable models of today.

Looks like a pile of shite

Ford may cut their dividend this year. They are not doing well.

That’s funny. I’ve never seen an factory made bronco with 4 doors.

I like the baw one. They can keep the Escape.

My first vehicle was a 76 Bronco

They had to make a family car. Most of the people that buy them will have vaginas.

3 cyl and CVT is grasping more at name recognition than keeping with the original purpose and function.

Sign of the times.
To their credit, the Pathfinder is now an ugly minivan with a CVT, the Cherokee is now based on a Fiat sedan, and the Blazer is now a sporty crossover for soccer moms.
The new 3 cylinder Bronco will be like that, but far less reliable. Ford fans and rental companies will buy them and keep them for a year or two before ditching them.
At least the bigger one looks sort of like a cartoon version of a truck. It’s based on the rather unimpressive Ranger pickup. On its worst day, it’s still better than any compact crossover like the Escape.

Do I see long travel a arms in the front?
ETA:
Looks like excellent approach and departure angles for a stock vehicle. Should take a high clearance winch bumper well. Top reminds me of a jeep gladiator rather than jeep 4 door. I'll be interesting to see how it works.
Unfortunately, the only reason I like seeing that vehicle back in production is so Jeep has competition again. When they canned the xterra, hummer h3, and fj cruiser, and added lower wind deflection to the 4runner... Jeep got a free pass.
And as a result, they started making bloated lumbering turds.
As unreliable as this ford product may be, it is instantly better than its fiat counterpart.

Appropriate with the hood up. Only thing missing is the mechanic's head down in there looking for the issue.

It’s disappointing that Ford hyped this thing for 5 years, then came out with something a kid could draw on a sheet of paper with a crayon. There is no EV powertrain to offer. The platform and power trains are carry over from existing Ford products.
These vehicles should not have taken that long to develop.
No one is trading in a Jeep for these Broncos. These are cars for people that have never had anything but Fords.

Ford’s diesel engine debacle proved that their loyal customers don’t care about that sort of thing.
Maybe that’s a good sign for a company that’s trying to offer throwback styling on a very “meh” vehicle.

So a 4 door Jeep with a different grille?

Jeep just lost all of the brothers who buy jeeps and 90% of the women who do.
I would say 40% for the average white boy as well.

The Toyota FJ ran with the same formula. It was canceled after 5-6 years without an update. Meanwhile, the Jeep Wrangler is still around and remains very popular.
I think Ford should have just offered a 2 door SUV on the full sized truck chassis with as many shared F-150 body panels and parts as possible. That was a successful Bronco strategy for a long time. Simple.

As a teenager, I wasn’t allowed to drive to school until I learned how to drive a manual transmission. It was not a Bronco, but it did have a 3 speed on the tree.
On flat pavement, I could get it moving in second and keep it there until about 50.
Maybe the new Bronco has a 6 speed? That could be cool.
