I have a 2018 F250 Diesel. All good so far but I only have about 50K on it and will probably get rid of it within the next year and cut back to just one truck.

I’m not kidding- I’m intrigued by the 7.3L Godzilla V8 you can get in the F-250’s.

Who buys a gas powered 3/4 or 1 ton over a diesel?

I did. Diesel might get better mileage but call a shop and tell them you need repairs on your diesel f-250 and see how long they tell you you'll have to wait just for them to get it in. Also, the costs of the repairs are exponentially more.

Most people probably don't really need the diesel anyway. I tow a camper and a trailer that are both just a little too heavy for a 1/2 ton. Really just needed the weight of the 3/4 vs the pulling power so the truck doesn't get pushed around.

ETA: I have a 2021 with the 7.3. Thing is a beast and all the pulling power I will ever need for a tow-behind camper.

Well the f250 3/4 ton was like a 7.3 or something (idr) and was fast af lol so I guess that is why they were selling them. However, this recall probably most affect too many baws if its just the gassers.

Most fleet operators are ditching diesels in their non-DOT trucks.

Cummins doesn't hardly even buy diesel 3/4 tons for their fleet trucks anymore.

Sure does fee like in the last 10 years we've crossed the line where fuel economy standards have effected the design of trucks so much that you now have to design a sub par product to meet fuel economy requirements.

People who know that power strokes beak down so

Well yeah, don't buy a Ford. Question is still valid for other models.

Exactly. To me if you want any part of a vehicle made from steel it would be the drive shaft.

I think most 3/4 ton and larger Rams, Silverados, Sierras, etc are diesel powered. Those engines still have the same emissions complexity to meet government mandates, but they seem to have far fewer issues than the Ford Powerstrokes.

In fact the only way you can get a Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD is with the 6.6L Duramax diesel and Allison transmission.

Why would anyone think this was a good idea in something designed to haul heavy loads.

WTF.

We have moved from diesel to gas on our farm. (7 trucks) One diesel 1-ton left, but have replaced it, just haven’t sold it.

Even the 2-ton is gas. Easier for us to maintain. Gas engines have come a long way.

AL is plenty strong for driveshafts.

There's been a definite move away from diesels due to maintenance costs and diminishing returns and it isn't limited to Ford. I see a LOT of newer HD Chevys running around that are gassers.

If you're not towing across the country or towing a house around the gassers do the job just fine.

Most Fords are too. They just offered the big v8 gas option with the current body style.
