open sourcing more of Tesla's technology
Didn't Elon make his car software open source anyway and nobody took him up on his offer to use it? I don't understand why the car makers didn't just license the Tesla charging ability early on. That's the main thing that sets the Tesla apart from other EV's. Makes it tremendously more practical.

Those power things and electronics are the most likely to fail. And without warning. That's what electronics do. Just crap out instantly. Simple machines last much longer than modern electronics
Despite all of this, modern vehicles are generally more reliable and last longer with less unscheduled maintenance.

The Tesla supercharging network is a faster charging network than the other EV charging systems. I'm not comparing how practical a cross country trip an EV vs gas is. If you want to drive and get there the quickest take your gas car.

Tesla is opening new supercharger locations every 12 hours, doubling the total number of chargers every two years. I'm not bothered by it, and it's following their mission to "accelerate EV adoption".
They do need more pull through chargers for Cybertrucks and Lightnings with trailers though

Do you pee on a telephone pole? That's the only option at the Tesla charging station in my area.

Most of the ones I've been to are next to restaurants etc.
The one in North Georgia at Buc-ee's is especially nice, but I only use them when I'm going more than 300 miles on a trip.

Some yes. But not nearly enough to really get going. They'll never share battery conditioning and control strategies. It's mostly just the some of the drive functionality they wanted to share (TP ramps, regen, et
