I do think a bigger space like a margin on the left would be good, as other people mentioned, although might again be because we are used to the purple bar on the left, and now it has jumped to the right, so we're thrown off.
Any comment on the the purple block at the right (I mean the ad block)? As mentioned previously (as an ETA, so you might have missed it), it is throwing me off as well. It's the last thing you see as you read left to right and isn't a good feel, IMO.

I like it, so far. It's much cleaner looking to the eye for sure. I still cant see to find the PRON board and cant send private messages anymore...

The customization aspect of it is the tits man.
I do think it could use a little work on presentation/UI, but hell what do I know. I like this better than the main desktop after using it for just a few minutes. The more space allowed for the content (actual posts) is probably the best thing about it to be honest.
Is this a precursor to a better mobile experience?

I would rather have my custom forum list on the left side with the same appearance as the current version.

This is getting picky, but I don't love the light blue fill color of the prev/next/page buttons. I much more like the black/white look of the "Submit", "Preview", html buttons, etc....i.e. keep the new box around the button, but just get rid of that fill color.

Like this: (The last column would only show if you choose specific forum) Change "Active" to "Normal", so it lets the user know this is the normal list they're used to.

The option for both would be nice, but there would need to be clarification for what you were viewing.
To the left of the "My Forums" tab could simply be "All". Clicking on that takes you to "All Boards", from which you can then view active, trending, and recent threads across the entire site.
The drop down for "My Forums" could be removed, and replaced with a direct link that takes you to an aggregate view of just your boards, which then you can again view in either active, trending, or recent.
Then, instead of having a default list of boards appear at the bar in the top, your actual boards could instead populate that grey bar. If you're subscribed to more boards than space in that bar would allow, then a function could assign 15 boards to the grey bar (user would be allowed to customize) with all others being accessible via a drop down arrow at the far right end of the bar (just before the gear icon). This would allow users to personalize their own forum list, and have quick access to the boards they frequent the most - while concurrently reducing the need to engage with a drop down menu.
