How did you go about this? I've gotten advice to look for a SEO specialist on Upwork or Fivr.

Be prepared to grind it out for awhile. You're not going to get the traffic overnight

Absolutely. TikTok fits that demographic.

It’s much more than people dancing etc.

If you don’t end up using the platform, you might take away a few ideas that you hadn’t thought of.

Most of those guys dangle the carrot in a 15-30 second video. They then forward you to their website or linktree with material that they’ve monetized.

I’ve managed several websites and to me the SEO firms I’ve dealt with are complete scam artists.

Like others have said some well placed ads and driving traffic through social media can get the ball rolling down hill for you.

How do people see your video on tiktok? Do you have followers on there like twitter? If you have no followers to start out with how do you get people to see the video?

Personal finance. It's a website where you can put in your own input assumptions and see projections regarding retirement, budgeting, net worth, kid's college expenses, etc. Whole website is free right now as it's in a beta phase and I'm trying to get the most feedback possible to get improvements. Dream is to grind it out for a few years and then sell it to a brokerage company like Etrade for lots of $$$'s.

How'd you get the projection on the number of people you expected to sign up for day one?

I've worked on a number of free content and tool driven initiatives in the past. Seems like they always came in low at initial kick off.

My site has been around since the 90’s. I’ve been with the same people since day one.

What is on your website, you should try making youtube videos. Most people who break through quickly like that build up a following through videos in some way.

The TikTok algorithm does its own thing.

If you don’t have any followers, I’d say look through creators that are in your own field of business.

Put appropriate hashtags on each piece of content you upload, along with links to your website.

It sounds like you could easily monetize what you’re offering and at the least get some great ideas of how to do that.

I’d spend a few minutes just scrolling through content that you think fits you.

Just my own expectations... No real math or logic necessarily behind it. I did a social media "blitz" and got a few hundred hits the first day it launched, but very few people followed through to actually sign up as a user (which is free).

Good luck competing with the hundreds of free sites that already do this exact thing.

Yeah there are quite a few out there, but most are only targeting one area, like retirement or budgeting or taxes, not all areas (retirement, budgeting, net worth, taxes, kid's college expenses, properties, businesses, etc.) like my site does. To get to the "good stuff" on other websites, you typically gotta sign up for a premium subscription, pay an asset management fee, etc.

Yeah it seems like you'd have to find people very interested in the subject at that moment in time in order for them to sign up. An educated guess is better than nothing.

Why not? Scantily clad women are into personal finance, too.

I'm with those that say download Tik Tok and start watching videos. Maybe look at a few hastags like budget, college expenses, retirement, etc. There are tons of folks out there promoting this stuff.

And yes, I promise you, your demographic is on Tik Tok. If you can't find a hook to get people to watch you (the money guru, finance nerds, something cutesy), then you need them to watch someone else who will promote you. People use #storytime to tell things and give it a hook. YOu have to keep watching more videos to see the end. Use ALL the hashtags you can think of.

Seriously, spend 1-2 hours watching videos for the next few nights and you can see how it works.
