For those of you that hit rock bottom, how bad did it get….

Another thread made me wonder how bad some of you had it to hit rick bottom and quit (drinking, pills, etc). How bad was it to make you make the decision to give it up?
I am fortunate enough to not have an addictive personality at all. I can go 4 days of drinking and then not drink for 2 weeks and have no problems. I enjoy hanging out and having some beers, but I also know that it’s not going to run my life.
I am in awe of those of you that walked away and continue to stay strong.

Walked away for 2 reasons: was compromising my health and was not a nice drunk

Got drunk 5-6 days a week all though college. Was bad binge drinker. I remember drinking a case of beer one night and didn’t have a buzz. Used to start off at happy hour with a pitcher of kamikees. I was always completely functional Straight A student so I thought it was ok.

Be thankful everyday you don’t have to deal with that. Addictive personality and OCD go hand in hand with each other, and both can cause problems for yourself and everyone you care about.
