Remember when you can fit 9 kids in the back of a station wagon?

They would put in jail for that now. When a youngster early / mid 70's we rode in the back of the truck. Dad had mounted a old car seat against the cab that faced backwards. We would ride there or sit on the fender well. Only time we got to ride in the cab was when it was raining. Today they would throw you under the jail if they caught a kid in the bed of a truck.

I graduated high school in 84. We were toying with late 60’s/ early 70’s muscle cars or taking the junk that came after and making them go fast. Wish we would have held on to them now. Socially most of the girls were thin and still put out with the AIDS scare coming on. Beautiful time to be young and alive.

true, we didn't have the AIDS scare yet, but we did have the Herpes scare. That was everywhere. Everybody thought that was the worst thing you could get in a STD. "the gift that keeps on giving". Guess they were wrong.

I was a bit young to remember it really well, but it was pretty much Peak America.

I was 10 in 1984 so all of those movies were a great part of that time of my life. Movies were actually original back then.

But the biggest thing for me in 84 was I remember having a sleepover in a tent in the backyard for my birthday. We watched the Padres and Detroit in the World Series that night. One of my all time favorite birthday parties. I had the pictures of that birthday party until Katrina.

Basic training. It sucked at the time but as I look back it was one of the greatest experiences of my entire life.

frick, thats all i can say. it goes too damn fast

Yuuup. As a child I remember the agony of time. Waiting for Christmas, waiting for summer, waiting, waiting, waiting.

Now, at 49, I’m more “slow the frick down”. However, all of my memories seem like yesterday, as if they’re in weird time vacuum, and all occurred nearly simultaneously when it’s been 40 flippin years since 1984…….

Yet, today we’re having my daughters 4 yo bday. God willing, I’ll be around to have memories of this in 40 more years.
